You mean they just send us all the same offer...

How long do we have to redeem our free popcorn because I got the offer the other day but haven't been near Village since then (or before then if I'm honest)

I got one month to get my free popcorn

*****ing hell- like I get it grandparents lend support with their grandkids.

But every ****ing time i seem to contact my aunty, she'd bloody doing something with them- ie. she's off to soccer practise, taking the kid there!!! Like ITS NOT YOUR ****ING CHILD. Im sorry, my stupid cousin whose his god damn parent should be ****ing doing that shit.

End rant

Anyone here go camping?

I may be going camping over the Easter weekend and looking at getting some camping gear for the trip. At this stage I have a camping chair & esky (the important things to keep the drinks cold & then sit back & enjoy said cold drinks...)

After recommendations for a tent or other such shelter, sleeping bag brand or ones to avoid

Cheers
Don't get a shit sleeping bag if your going anywhere slightly cold.
Cheap shitty tent is fine if you don't go that much.
Deb mashed potato is tops for camping.
A half decent mattress is an absolute must.
Dont just use a yoga mat or similar. They don't work.
If you get a blow up one you can get a little pump that plugs into your car for less than 10 bucks.

Re sleeping bags cats_09 unless you are going to idk a place thats 30+ degrees everyday and warm at night, all I can say is get a sleeping bag with MUCH MORE warmth than you think you'll need.

FML, I got caught out bad going across the States in June- just stupidly thought oh yeah it was summer- and got whatever bag. A couple of night i was so cold I could feel it "in my bones" no joke. It was horrible.
You beat me to it. I went to Daylesford one Easter which I assume isn't as cold as America with a shit sleeping bag and I was f**king freezing. Could not sleep.

My brother has all the camping gear - used to go camping with his mates but hasn't been for years and not likely to go any time soon because of other commitments

So I kinda asked him the other night but not pushing the issue - if it comes up again I can get a tent, mattress, cot and all that shit from him, but I'll still get my own sleeping bag. Otherwise I'll try to get a tent & mattress to go with a new sleeping bag, but won't worry about buying a cot

I do have an old sleeping bag, but it was living in the garage for a couple of years and when I say old I mean like from when I was a kid and I may have recently turned an age that makes it like 30 years old

this is going to be near ararat - so apparently only like 7 - 10c at night, but guessing it could get a bit colder

so actually paying attention to the type of sleeping bag I can get - love that at Anaconda I can get a certain model & if i go the grey/blue or the grey/black it's going to cost $99, but if I go the grey/green it's only $40. Not sure how the different colours impact performance but thinking for $60 difference i could live with green should I get that one

It's probably still good. Old shit often is cause they made it properly.

They're kinda weird. I bought ones that were rated at 0degrees for the whole family but they were still too cold at about 10 degrees.
You gotta go over IMO
I dunno fashion or something? With the colours.

Everything I've read with sleeping bags is to make sure you get them rated for about 5c colder than you are anticipating to be the coldest and even then, go for ones rated to colder temperatures - easier to open the sleeping bag, let some air into the tent etc if one gets too hot than go the other way & try to pile on blankets if you get too cold

my little splurge purchase - it's the seat cushion to go on top of the ice-box I purchased for my birthday last year; used to cost about $80+ and down to $30 on clearance

also helps that when I purchased the ice-box 12 months ago it was $50 cheaper than they are now - the impact of covid on manufacturing & things not being as readily available now

Not sure how many here have been following the WA election results, but for the first time in it's 90 year history the Seat of Nedlands has flipped to Labour - previously it was seen as a conservative strong hold, and the Court family (Charles & then his son Richard) held the seat for nearly 50 years between 1953 & 2001

Even heading into this election it held an 8% margin but suffered a 10.2% swing against it

I will say though, it covers an interesting area as per this redistribution map

Exactly.

I srsly will never forget how cold I was up in Montana, in June. It was like... borderline painful. Thats how cold I was.

I'm finding it hard to give a shit about the footy for whatever reason.
Maybe when the weather cools down a bit ill start feeling it.
Also I hope it's not another bullshit Corona season.

My sister in law is a Carlton supporter and she showed me a photo of my nephew in a Carlton jumper when he was a baby. It was when he was teething and his cheeks were red. She wasn't happy when I said "I'd be embarrassed to be seen in that top too." :D

Haha, I was chatting to guy at work today who was stoked for the footy.
Asked him who he went for and he goes Carlton.
I laughed at him, then he said they're coming and I laughed even more.

That was still sweet. Even if it was a NAB cup.
By that stage I'd seen so many losing grand finals. Even f**king 3 or 4 night ones id seen us lose.
Was good to win something for once.

I was pumped when we won the VFL grand final in 2002 as well. Had been way too long prior to then that we'd won some silverware at any level.
