They're saying 3.7 million bucks.
Actually a surprisingly low waste of money for this government.

Only about 740 Cartier watches. The former Australia Post CEO lost her job over gifting 4 of them.

Wth was all that about too...

/confused
Government bought in a corporate hot shot to be CEO Australia Post.
Then sacked her when she ran it like a corporation.
Instead of giving employees 150,000 dollar bonuses that she was entitled to, she bought them watches instead.
Real reason was she was against the privatisation of Australia Post.
Can't really help you with the soccer.

Nooooo a guy tested for covid and he was fully vaccinated ffs

They had a story on ACA last night about some dude who had a notification from his MyGov account that his vaccination record was updated to show that he had received the Covid vaccine - despite the fact he never did and isn't even eligible to receive one yet.

I know the Glazers own United and it looks like they are the main protagonists of this but how many of the other clubs involved have foreign owners that don't give a stuff about the actual football. Is it possible they have read the room wrong and the backlash from fans, and maybe even some players, will bring them down or are people just going to cop it sweet and keep consuming after the initial outrage.

i used that very phrase today about it all - 'read the room wrong'. thats my view entirely.

the largely foreign ownership assumed the fans would be thrilled their clubs were deciding to exert themselves as 'the elite', leaving behind the riff-raff, and celebrate it.

they got the opposite. im positive that liverpool, for example, did not expect their fans to burn team shirts in protest.

there is no romance in this. im a city fan, but seeing them lose to leicester at home during their impossible title run in 2016 was amazing. seeing 10 man leeds win in with their 2nd shot on target all game in the 92nd minute was amazing. seeing 4th tier cheltenham lead city 1-0 in the 81st minute was amazing. the sort of romance that goes above team loyalty.

this shafts all that.

seeing city v RM or liverpool v barcelona in the CL is wonderful because of its scarcity. not anymore.

i see nothing positive in any of it.

the irony of city finally making it past the CL quarters only to be barred (after already being barred and having that overturned) due to this greedy decision is delicious.

What's going on with the soccer??

Dumb it right down for a dummy who knows nothing...

a bunch of the biggest clubs in england, italy and spain have decided to form their own top tier comp - with no threat of 'relegation' to a lower league.

its sort of like richmond, collingwood, essendon and carton leaving the AFL and forming a league to guarantee themselves top 4 every year.

The vaccine doesn’t stop you from getting covid. It’s just supposed to reduce the chances of getting it, and getting very sick from it. It doesn’t make you immune.
And doesn't it (or at least one of the vaccine variants) reduce the chance of you transmitting it should you contract covid?

They were speaking further on this tonight and it seems that it also includes the womens teams for those clubs wanting to break away and the restrictions that have been threatened such as no longer being able to play for your country, could apply to the women

Looks like things may get very messy

not to mention players like kevin de bruyne saying to city 'i just signed a new contract to play in the EPL and CL and now i cant... youve breached the contract so im out. ill still take the £80 million you owe me, though. throw in an extra £40 million because now i cant play for belgium, either.'
