They're also really polite IMO. Everyone says their rude and loud. But most of the ones I've met are so polite and nice
More often than not I've found them extremely polite and happy to chat, sure you encounter dicks but that happens everywhere

Maybe it's just me, but on a few occasions I've found myself in situations where those less fortunate want to chat - these may be homeless folk such at a bus stop in San Fran, or those doing it though. I've never found myself in a situation where I was uncomfortable while talking to them, or them requesting money etc, it's sometimes just a case of people wanting to feel heard and appreciating that someone is happy to chat

One guy I spent a bit of time talking with when in New York was a fellow who went by Sir Shadow - the hostel I stated in was called Bowery's Whitehouse Hotel, it was cheap but US$20 a night is a good deal in New York. Prior to being a hostel it was a lodging for those less fortunate, and those residing there were protected by housing laws that gave them the rights of permanent residents. It meant those guys that stayed lived downstairs, while hostel guests were on the upper levels

I'd often chat with Sir Shadow either in the morning before heading out for the day or upon returning in the evening and we'd chat - he was an artist & was also in the process of writing a book which he asked me to read and provide feedback. Before I left my, he drew some artwork for me & also gave me a copy of his 2007 calendar, and refused any payment; still got them at home

It's just about being polite, being giving with one's own time and treating others with respect

Doing a Google search I just saw this and really enjoyed reading it as it bought back memories of my NY trip, especially as that hotel is now closed apart from the few men still living there

One time I yelled at a Saints supporter after the pre season GF but I was on the train and they were walking past and don’t know why I did it. Then my Dad said don’t do that you’ll cause a fight so I shut up then but they ignored me thankfully...

Picking on a saints fan is like picking on a very young child.

Very mean of you
