Would be staggered if the Victorian lockdown doesn't get extended on the back of these case numbers

I wonder what their reasoning is behind always putting an earlier deadline on these than they must know they need. Do they think it will increase compliance if people think it is only a short amount of time? I'd prefer they forecast a longer period and then wind back if needed. Announcing a date and then having to extend and extend is more demoralizing to me. Also, if you're going to have it to the middle of the week you might as well just take it to the end. Make it an 8-10-day lockdown. If cases numbers come in after a few days and they've traced contacts well, then you can release it early and people will be happy, and going forward knowing that you'd think would aid compliance in future lockdown scenarios.

Given the tendency this has to seep into Victoria and then spread rapidly, it would seem prudent to maintain some level of restrictions in Victoria while NSW is experiencing its current outbreak and any time the same occurs in another state. Keep crowd capacity reduced and dispersed (not densely clustered in some parts of the stand) as well as venue caps in place.

Interesting....Especially that last point, It sounds like you’re getting a rough deal, especially on having to stand at your point, it should be mandated to be given a smoko break, & also a lunch/dinner break.

I know I'm only new to this gig, but strongly believe that all crews (especially those where we're working for bigger companies and not an individual contractor) should be one more controller than they are rostering on so that there's opportunities for a break - lunch, toilet etc, and even just the chance to get off your feet for 5/10 minutes when you start the get into that 5/6 hour+ shift

Or even if they had specific crews who were located within different locations and able to visit the various worksites to ensure that those on a specific site are able to have a break

It would certainly be beneficial for your crew to control the breaks, as you say even that chance to have 10 mins off your feet will pay dividends in the long run.....Because fatigue is a big factor in jobs like that, & feeling “valued” is also a big factor in how people view their jobs, which goes hand in hand with how successful you’re in a particular work role.

I can think of 2 key areas he should have been focusing on over the past 15 or so months and think it's pretty safe to say he failed on both accounts:
- the set-up and implementation of dedicated quarantine facilities
- the organisation & successful rollout of a vaccination program

The reason we've had bugger all deaths is because we live on a massive island continent with only 20m people and are a first world country.

We got offered 40mil doses of the Pfizer, cheap, and the fed gov knocked them back.
Probably has nothing to do with the vested interests in astrazeneca though...

Largely just scomo being a tightarse, cause the az was the cheapest option. That worked out well.

Yep. ScoMo like all politicians is corrupt. They are politicians.
He would of got them cheaper and got a kick back, and at the time we didn't know which one was the good one.
Noone did.
Now once we get all these vaccines are we saved?
Who's getting them? I know everyone on the internet will say they're getting it but the internet is not real.
I barely know anyone or have talked to anyone who wants to get it. And only know a couple who have.

Just found out 2 of my nephews have to get Covid tested and self isolate as they were at exposure sites. One is a student at Bacchus Marsh Grammar, and the other studies at the Deakin Waurn Ponds campus.

They had their tests yesterday. Haven't heard if they've got their results back yet though.

I went to the Wallabies v France game at aami park, wasn't even near the area where the positive case was reported sitting however now I've been told to self isolate for 2 weeks because I've been identified as Tier 1 close contact of the positive case.

Attendance to the game was above 20k

Strange, nearly everyone I know over 40 has a first dose (including myself), a few elderly types are fully dosed up, while those under 40 are sadly waiting, desperate to get vaccinated.

There's one guy I know who's not interested in getting shot-up, but he hasn't been interested in anything for 20 years, apart from still buying Mojo.

Yeah I've got a mate still on it.
I know 2 older blokes who've got the vaccine. Most I know just don't wanna get it or want to wait a year.
Rest kind of like myself get it whenever I somehow get it.
I assumed it'd be like the flu shot where someone comes in and gives it to you.

I'm baffled why me and my wife have to self isolate even after receiving back negative test results, as we were nowhere near that section.
