How nice is it that despite the quality on our injury list and the huge turnover of experience from our list in the post-season that there is still plenty of good looking options and debate for our best 22.

Wingard left Port because he was sick of being put in the middle. He wants to be a forward.
Yes when asked he will spend some time in there, but forget about it being a large percentage of centre bounces.

I believe it was actually the other way around, he wanted to be a midfielder. Though none of that was the reason why he left.

I would add Finn and Jaeger to that list of one-paced mids.

I think Worpel's pace gets underrated a little. Like Hodge's pace was underrated in his prime.
I actually think Finn and Jaeger are the two in our mid mix who have a turn of pace- JOM hasn't been able to show it much because of playing an inside role and Finn hasn't had a run of games with the club to show his pace off yet. If we can get JOM to play more of an outside role and we can get Finn into the mix I think we'll see their pace far more often.
I reckon Cousins has shown a bit of pace in space- particularly last season (definitely wouldn't call him fast though).
Worpel I agree with you on for sure.

Wingard is being wasted as a small forward. He’s the only player along with Burgoyne that can hit a target by foot under pressure. He was our most productive player from Rounds 18-23 in 2019 averaging 24.6 disposals - 5 tackles - 5 clearances - 6.6 inside 50s. The midfield seems to have more flow when he plays there.

Same thing during his final years at Port. He was their best player for the second half of the season once he moved into the middle, he was brilliant. Same stats essentially - 25 touches, 5 tackles, clearances, pressure acts, goals and setting up play. He has to play there.

I respect your opinion on JOM as having a turn of pace - I knew when I included him in a list as one-paced that I would be in the minority view. But that is my opinion unfortunately - i wish i thought differently.

Finn, however, i am much more confident on my assessment- the boy has strength to pull away from packs, but he hasn't got any kick in the engine department. I base this on watching him in NAB Cup/juniors.

I agree on Cousins - I think Worps and Cousins have the most kick, then Mitch, then JOM. (excluding Wingard)
