Jaysus, Rowell is going to have an absolute field day in the guts.

Greenwood will go straight to Kelly, who notoriously struggles with a tag.

Which leaves Sheed (Doesn't even tackle), Gaff (small peen, small stature), XON (B grade newbie) and Redden (fast approaching retirement) to come up against the ranga freak and his mates.

Pray Mark closes the boArders gaiz.

Don't worry, Ainsworth will be tagging Rowell

How come AFL website hasn't picked up on Shuey injury and reported? They were all over reporting NN, Kelly and Yeo? Not to mention any other big name who is going to miss this time of the year. Maybe not 100% accurate/known at this stage and might not be a 2-3 weeker? Hope so.

Is it just Yeo and Shuey out for round 1 from the midfield? That’s very manageable, surprised to see the very negative reactions to the news when Shuey is likely back round 2.

Is there anything to suggest Kelly is out too?
Kelly hasn’t had a very good preseason himself.

In 2006 and 2018 we won difficult games with decimated midfields, but you just can’t really see it happening in 2021, which is telling.

I think we’ll get beaten up by GC’s kids in the middle but hopefully it’s just preseason pessimism

I reckon we will lose or at best break even in the midfield, but we can win as we have a significant edge at either end.

I'm hoping the conditions are dry and quick and that should help us with our ball movement.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

I think what fcuked us over last time was the QLD conditions, warm and sticky, humid, we played five minutes of good footy that entire game and kicked four quick goals, Shuey or not, if we get a good, warm, dry deck, hopefully still in Perth, we will roll them.

Don't know how to handle optimism from ep2018

Maybe I should start getting nervous.

Yeah it was a bit of a perfect storm last time. Adjusting to unexpected hub life, playing in some of the most unique conditions in the country that also happen to be our kryptonite. That being said, GC at any point early on is still someone we shouldn’t be taking lightly, regardless of the venue/conditions.

Our issues (in winning and losing) have often been around our over reliance on centre clearances as a scoring avenue.

At the very least we'll find out if as a team they are on a path to fixing some of those problems.

Who do we think will get the call up for round 1?

Feels like it’s between Ainsworth/XON/Trew?

I’d like to see Trew but Ainsworth or X seems more likely.
The order feels like O'Neill, Trew and then Ainsworth based on selections in the last game. I thought O'Neill was very good in the freo game and very pleasing to see his continued development. I think Trew has to confidence to play and showed he'd be more than useful.
Ainsworth would be in as a tagger, but Gold Coasts mids are all inside mids who are accountable for their opposition player. So not really a game for him.

Ainsworth will be first picked. Don’t be fooled by the last scratchie

New case yesterday in QLD and today in NSW.

It could have some impact on the begginning of the season for us.

Agree....but I hope he's not
As long as the player picked helps us get a win, I’m not that fussed. All I want is for the MC to generate some actual competition for a change rather than just picking the one guy they’re going to gift games to for the year and leaving the rest to bide their time in the WAFL.

They shared things around a bit last year but it seemed mostly out of necessity. Would be good to see the young mids fight it out
