Was not expecting that. DST worked that magnificently, even if who they were trying to get the win wasn't who won

Matthews caught behind a crash with a damaged at a crucial part of the race - then the team dropped back the wrong rider who got him back to the peleton too late, and his race was over.
Matthews didn't have the power to go with Asgren & MVDP on the climbs - nobody did, not even WVA. Those two were in a class of their own all race, and it was entirely fitting that they were the ones battling for the top spots on the podium.

Well we never had the chance to see if Matthews had the power - I doubt he could have matched the first two but he was every chance to be in the second group if not held up by a crash in the crucial part of the race.
