Is it really telling us something we don’t already know 😉😂
We really need to look after Paddy re time on ground etc. A little bit of bubblewrap occasionally to make sure he can last next year.
Would really like Roma’s time on ball lifted a little. He’s ready to shoulder it.

I can see it happening next year. Marshall as the number one ruck and Paddy as number two. Hopefully that will help Ryder get through another season.
Then we need to get Heath to come through as number two, but that might need a couple of seasons.

Steele comes across as a pretty uncompromising type that doesn’t accept mediocre. Reminds me of a hungry Nick Riewoldt in his approach to challenging standards. Steele looks like the perfect captain for us going forward.

Did he say campaigners were turning up late to training and stuff? WTF were we doing? That's loose as ****.

Yea that’s not good. I always say to campaigners “if you are on time, you are late!” Should always be at least 15 minutes early ffs.

There were rumours that there was a bit of a divide in the group between the pros & the not so pros. I reckon this is what Steele was alluding to.

That’s terrible. Can’t believe he actually put it out there though.
Hope they get their act together next season bc were not going anywhere with players who are not 100% dedicated.

He said players were late to meetings with no repercussions. Think it was more players being a bit slow heading from the track into a meeting and stuff like that. Still not good.

I can't open this whatever it is from the link, can you tell us what it is so we can find it ourselves.

"...The Saints, meanwhile, confirmed to The Age and the Herald on Monday that Joyce had not headed to Western Australia with teammates ahead of this week’s game with West Coast.

The Irishman also attended the rugby match and it is unclear at this stage which tier he falls into. But the Saints decided out of an abundance of caution not to allow Joyce to fly to Perth. Joyce would have been in strong contention to face the Eagles, having been an emergency for Saturday’s game against Port Adelaide. Defender Tom Highmore broke his hand in that match and won’t play against the Eagles. Oscar Clavarino and James Frawley headed to Perth and are in contention to take on West Coast.

Ruckman Rowan Marshall, who also attended the rugby, also headed to WA.

Dan McKenzie (concussion) stayed in Victoria too..."

Rowan not playing this week. Tier 1.

Sometimes i don't mind Kingy, but he has a habit of picking out certain incidents in games and crucifying players for them.

I remember him doing it in 2017 with Mark LeCras from the eagles. He showed some vision and said he should never be allowed to play afl again. The following year he was a premiership player...had a great season.

He just takes the easy option. He is a gutter journalist

He isn’t a journalist, he’s a former footballer desperately clinging to relevance

ST KILDA
Out of contract (18): Sam Alabakis, Jack Billings (RFA), Jake Carlisle, Oscar Clavarino (UFA), Leo Connolly, Luke Dunstan (UFA), James Frawley (UFA), Jarryn Geary (UFA), Paul Hunter (UFA), Darragh Joyce (UFA), Dean Kent, Jack Lonie, Shaun McKernan (UFA), Seb Ross (UFA), Paddy Ryder, Cooper Sharman, Jack Sinclair, Mason Wood (UFA)

The Saints are close to locking away Sinclair on a multi-year deal, while SSP signing and ex-Roo Wood is approaching a contract trigger for 2022. Lonie also has a trigger that he could reach with a good finish to the season. Negotiations have started on new deals for Ryder, Billings and Ross. Dunstan’s excellent form since returning to the senior side has given him options, while sweet-kicking Connolly and Sharman should get new deals. Veterans Geary, Carlisle, Frawley and McKernan will have to wait until season’s end.

AFL: St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall locked in his room at the same Perth resort where his teammates are moving around

St Kilda coach Brett Ratten is “really worried” about isolated ruckman Rowan Marshall, who is locked in his room at the same Perth resort where his teammates are staying.
Marshall was forced into isolation this week after discovering he had visited a tier 1 Covid-19 exposure site in Melbourne following the Wallabies’ Test against France. The ruckman visited a pub in Richmond after the match.

He’s among a growing number of AFL players locked away from their teammates around the country and unable to have face-to-face contact with anyone.

As he tried to zone in on preparations for Saturday’s clash with West Coast in Perth, Ratten said Marshall, who wasn’t able to return to Victoria to complete his isolation that will end next week, was not far from everyone’s thoughts.

“We’re just really worried about him now,” Ratten said on Wednesday.

“We’re in Joondalup where we get a little bit of luxury of moving around the resort. But he’s actually locked in his room. His meals are being dropped off at the door.

“So to make sure his wellbeing is all right, we’ve got our psych here, everyone is touching base with him, and we’re trying to get a little bit of equipment so he can do some form of exercise in his room.

“But he doesn’t have much space. He won’t be leaving his room for the 14 days I think.”

The Saints and the AFL have lobbied the West Australian government to allow Marshall to fly back to Melbourne with the team this weekend,

But he may have to wait for his isolation period to expire on July 27 before being permitted to leave.

“The support is critical,” Ratten said.

“I text him and called him this morning, our psych will zoom in so he can see him.

“He not in his home, but he’s going fine. It’s not just Rowan – people around Australia have been put in these situations. But he’s with us in our group, so that’s how we’re taking care of him.”

Marshall‘s absence comes at a crucial time for the Saints who have to beat the Eagles to keep their finals hopes alive.

Veteran Paddy Ryder will have to shoulder the bulk of the ruck load against West Coast star Nic Naitanui on Saturday.

“Nic is one of the elite players in the competition,” Ratten said.

“He changes games in short periods. Sometimes it’s not what he does for the whole game, it’s what he can do in about 15 minutes of footy sometimes.

“He just turns the game on its head. He gets the momentum going for West Coast.”

Paul Hunter could come back in to help Ryder, but Ratten said they could also go with a “small”second ruck option.

Ratten said the importance of the match was not lost on his players.

“They know what’s on the line, the season, it is what it is,” he said.

“We could have made it a little easier for ourselves, but we haven’t.”

Nick Coffield is fit and available and with no VFL games could return from a hamstring injury against the Eagles.
