I think Zac Merrett needs to go back

No doubt they just go with Redman, Ridley, Hurley, Ambrose, Francis, Guelfi, Gleeson

I'd like to see Zac Merrett go back as the main distributor. He'd be great across half back. Basically what he did this year but just off a wing and a small bit inside.

See if Rutten has the balls to pull give it a crack considering the Zac Merrett situation

You blokes forgetting Ambrose is on our list or am I assuming you’ve traded him? Our best defender bar none.

Ambrose Ridley Redman
McGrath Francis Heppell
Merrett Dunkley Langford
Tippa Stringer Laverde
Smith Stewart Snelling

Draper Shiel Parish

Phillips Caldwell ? ?

Hooker and Hurley are now depth. Still expect them to play a fair share of games.

Assuming we land Dunkley and Caldwell in trades at minimum & excluding non NGA draftees:

Ambrose - Zerk Thatcher/Hurley - Ridley
McGrath - Francis - Redman
Merrett - Dunkley - Langford
Smith - Stewart - Stringer
AMT - Hooker - Snelling

Draper - Shiel - Parish

Int: Caldwell, Laverde, Heppell, Ham

Depth: (Hurley/Zerk), Phillips, Zaharakis, Jones, Eyre, Brand, Cahill, Clarke, Gleeson, Cutler, Townsend, Mosquito (inj.), Johnson, Mcbride, Mcquillan

Strengths:
- A deeper and more balanced ruck/midfield set up
- Intercept defenders

Weaknesses:
- Lack of quality depth
- Key defenders lack size and experience
- No legitimate FF
- Lacking lockdown defenders and speedy half backs (ironically)
- A capable small forward to assist AMT

Needs:
- A FF
- Half backs with pace and good kicking skills
- A lockdown defender
- A pacey, opportunist small forward
- Potentially KPD if Zerk, Francis and Brand don't come on

B Francis - Ambrose/BZT - Ridley
HB Redman - Hurley - Smith
C Langford - McGrath - Merrett
HF Snelling - Stewart - Zaharakis

Assuming a few trades still to go through

B: Francis, Hurley, Ridley
HB: Merrett, Hooker/BZT, Ham
C: Caldwell, McGrath, Redman
HF: Langford, Stewart, Stringer
FF: Tippa, Wright, Snelling
R: Draper, Shiel, Dunkley
I/C: Parish, Heppell, Laverde, Ambrose
Emerg: Smith, Zaharakis, Guelfi

Still think we have a lot of holes even if these trades go through. In general going for youth over aging/injured players. Merrett is a great ball user and could play a quarterback role across half back. Ham would replace some the pace lost from Saad/McKenna. Question mark would be if these two are strong enough defensively to play there. Redman has shown signs of being a great ball user as well having the height to take contested marks so would play him further up the ground

B: Francis - Zerk-Thatcher - Ridley
HB: Redman - Hurley - Smith
C: Merrett - Dunkley - Heppell
HF: Langford - Stewart - Snelling
F: Stringer - Wright - McDonald-Tipungwuti
R: Draper - Shiel - Merrett
I/C: Parish - Caldwell - Laverde - Ham

EMG: Guelfi - Laverde - Clarke - Ambrose

Thanks for writing this down! I missed the start

That backline doesn't look good at all.

Dodo seriously needs to draft a HBFer. I hear it's a specialty of his.

Redman Ambrose Francis
Ridley Hooker Heppell
Zaharakis Dunkley Merrett
Langford Hurley Smith

Draper Shiel McGrath
Parish Caldwell Laverde Gleeson
Ham, Mozzie, Stewart, BZT, Guelfi, Phillips, Snelling, Jones

That leaves us with 8 more spots, if rumours of the list being 38 are true. 2 of which will be the academy kids and probably 2 first rounders, assuming we don't get smashed in the Dunk trade.

Cutler? Towna?

There are quite a few kids currently listed that will be on the way out if things stay like that.

Any one else a bit concerned re our back pockets/small defenders?

Incredibly shallow.
Think that's why there have been murmurings about Stoddart, Bonner (who I think is an outside mid anyway) and Hind.
