Feel like our half forward line and half back line are yet to be really nailed down and we’ll try a number of players through these spots this year

What’s with everybody leaving Hooker out of the 22? Havin a laugh?
He got dropped because of form last year.
He looked slower than treacle when he did play.
He's now a year older.
We haven't seen if his "super fit" pre-season look transfers to game play yet.

Any of those are perfectly reasonable reasons he's not locked into everyone's team.

Give Rutten some credit for dropping Hooker, I reckon....hopefully he lit the fire for him to finish his contract performing to a good level

Zaharakis should be next then. I don't see him in many people's best 22s.

Stewart, Laverde and Cahill training as defenders.
Hurley training as a forward. Reid spending time forward already.
I'm not sure what the go is with all this.
Reid is very versatile aswell and can even play ruck, but long term he should end up as a key defender. Lot easier to play as a forward when you’re the size of a stick.

I would have thought so as well, though I understand the need for Cox to be tried in a variety of roles more clearly. I'm confused about all these other players shifting though - mixed messages. Stewart I can understand although I don't see the need. The multiplicity of changes though... really?
Whatever they're trying to achieve, I hope it's been well communicated to the players. I can see how it would start to raise eyebrows and create angst.

Play them out of position at the start of the year. Lose first 5 games. Switch everyone back to their normal positions and everyone thinks you're a genius for turning it around.

This is my preferred line-up. It presumes all the positional switching is the stuff of which Plan B is made.

FWIW, I look at Snelling and see a player brought in to play Smith's role when he was injured. He's turned out to be a little dynamo with very good skills. It would be great if he can become a tackling madman who can kick crazy goals.

Really keen to see some new faces in the line up - I’d like to see Jones, Hind, Wright, Cox and Caldwell all in the starting 22 round 1. I know Stewart and Hooker have both been training to play back but we have enough depth in defence - ( couldn’t even fit Zerk or Ambrose in!) - so I still think one of Hooker or Stewart needs to play forward

They are but I have seen him train. Right now he looks as good as he did pre saga.:)

The noise coming from preseason is definitely getting interesting.

it’s sounding like that is shape:

FB:Cahill, Stewart, Francis
HB: Ridley, Hooker, Heppell
C: Ham, Merrett, Langford
HF: Hurley, Jones, Stringer
FF: Tippa, Wright, Smith
Ruck: Draper, McGrath, Shiel
Inter: Caldwell, Parish, Hind, Snelling/Laverde/Redman

Reid maybe the one to surprise

Don’t know how it can get much smaller. Maybe a fit Perkins. Hird and Johnson not likely ready. Guelfi probably supplanted by Cahill. Zaha wasn’t fit last I heard, Mossie/Clarke still a way off.

Hurley looks touch and go, play Redman and Snelling.

Think Hurley gets the seniority selection if fit, but I’m okay with that. Unfortunately we don’t have the perfect player for that last forward slot. Probably a Bolton type half forward that can pinch hit middle and wing.

I'm saying it looks like that he's going to miss through injury.
