How drunk was the person at the ICC that came up with concept of 2 uneven pools.
If Bangladesh had beaten Scotland they wouldn't look so uneven on paper. What would you have done? Manipulated it so as to deny Scotland the place they earned by beating Bangladesh and topping their group?

The other group has 3 of the top 4 as well as 4 of the top 7 sides in the rankings.

Agreed. But odds are much better if bowling first.
We went from $1.35 to 1.25 post-toss.
Discounting the 10% vig factored into the odds

$1.35 implies a 74% chance of winning
$1.25 implies an 80% chance of winning

With the stink being made about bowling first you’d think it’s a 60% swing in terms of win rate rather than the far smaller actuality according to bookmakers

You can’t swing that much from $1.30! You’ll find ever team bowls first this World Cup

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Kusal Perera(w), Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(c), Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara, Maheesh Theekshana

Australia (Playing XI): David Warner, Aaron Finch(c), Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade(w), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood

It can swing as much as needed at any odds to fall in line with the predicted chances

Bowling first is an advantage no doubt but the 6% swing shows you’re overblowing it just a tad. If it was pick em odds @ $1.90 it would go no further than $1.70 based on the toss

You still don’t want what is an ordinary side which we are batting first trust me.

Still a decent swing though. Underdogs like Namibia and Pakistan getting early upset wins.
