Surely a badge from the mods for the first person to come up with an 18 team trade that nobody agrees with?
You'd better vote after starting all this :)

Well PMBangers it looks like the simplest answer is sometimes the best one 🤣

Joao do you have any ideas for what the badge should be?

1. 36 + 38 + future 3rd (Hawthorn) for 33 + future 2nd (Adelaide)

We gain sufficient points for Daicos with 33. The first part of the trade is a loss for us in value, but 36 and 38 were going to be eaten by the Daicos bid anyways, so using both to upgrade a future 3rd to a future 2nd would set us up to trade back into the draft following the Daicos bid.

The swap of the future picks could also look very ugly for us if Adelaide continues its upwards trajectory and Hawthorn continues to decline. But that wouldn't concern us since we'd past Adelaide's future 2nd in the below deal.

2. Future 2nd (Adelaide) + Future 3rd (Brisbane) + Future 3rd (Richmond) for 18

Using ladder positions this year, this would be 22 + 43 + 51 (total of 1482 points) for 18 (985 points). This represents an increase of 497 points for Brisbane to match the Ashcroft bid next year, effectively gaining the equivalent of pick 37 in points for free.

Giving up a first round pick for points doesn't make sense for us given we want to take three picks at the draft this year and trading out 18 means we'll need to use pick 60 instead. No point trading out a current first rounder that we can use, when we have a perfectly good first rounder next year that will need to be traded for points.

This trade makes more sense for our future first round pick, though we might as well wait until next year to do it so we know where all those picks will land.

Yeap I'd be happy with a future 1st instead as well.

Yes you could always trade your future 1st for points. But this trade is already giving you a HUGE premium on your future 1st. And ~ 500 points is probably more like the floor of what you gain, with the premium potentially increasing further depending on ladder movements.

It doesn't make sense to make a trade like that this year (for our future first) when we could make it next year and know exactly how much points we're gaining. The Dogs used pick 17 alone to gain ~500 points and we saw how hard teams chased the pick, and I assume that's what we'll try to do next year.

keep dreaming..crows giving up a higher 2nd this year and a much higher 2nd next year for 2 back end 2nds this year and a future 3rd from a team expected to be a top 4 side..cmon

How about crows pick 33 and 2022 2nd for Collingwoods 2022 1st...see we can all be silly
