Regardless of what number you picked him at he's played 9 games in 4 years.
38 or worse seems enough for a guy whos not even best 22.
Don't forget he was suspended for 10 weeks, missed a grand final!!
The way I see it you guys have every excuse to make him cheap we have the opposite
lets hope they meet in the middle

Come on Gary Rohan, he is sh*t!!! CCJ isn't him watch the Adelaide Tigers Game
He clunked them, kicked 4 goals, really good Kick. played an awesome game.
Good luck to him!!
Understand the kid wants to play, so would I
Pick 20
No club will offer pick 20 regardless, where he’s drafted isn’t relevant.

pick 20 is overs, if someone traded for overs that list manager probably won’t have a job the next day,now if they did that with psd being a safety blanket the list manager would be laughed out the industry

Pick 38 isn't a joke.

What is a joke, is your complete & utter inability to comprehend to understand how leverage works in trade period.

This idea that Dimma is going to give CCJ a Chinese-burn & he's going to decide he wants to stay because North don't overpay, is genuinely pathetic.
you think I don't understand it !!

Pick 20
If a key forward who kicked 200+ goals over 4 years is not worth a first rounder, a relatively untried ruck/forward who has played 9 games in 4 years isn't worth anywhere near pick 20.

I truly believe 38 /Chol fa preservation and pick swaps is that meeting in the middle

we don’t actually have to deal with you at all

I want pick 20, I want pick 20....

To be fair they were always going to try, they will play hard ball until they get the message we aren’t budging. It will then get done late and they can play their “well we tried” card for their supporters. Just a massive wank fest this period.

CCJ is worth a pick around 30-35. Just because he was pick 20 4 years ago doesn't mean that is his worth now. Would you pay Pick 5 for Gary Rohan?

Shifting Pick 40, Tarrant and some pick swaps should be enough unless we give pick 20 and get back pick 26 and CCJ.

Unbelievable. Without looking I think I can confidently say that Rohan is easily the worst ever pick 5. In fact he would have been a bad pick if someone had taken him at Pick 105.

You want pick 20 and we want to give you f*** all and have the means to achieve that outcome by way of the PSD. Therefore, pick 38 is more than reasonable.

Yea, I thought it was a pretty obvious message when the list manager says we aren’t using pick 20 for CCJ.

in the world you live in, does a 10 week suspension on the record make a young player more valuable?

I Don't see it that way.
We want to keep him
If he CCJ gone for Kebabs he would be a premiership player
Good young ruckmens are very hard to find and what he showed this year was he is defiantly coming as an AFL player
His choice to leave, good luck to him!!
You offer 450 over 5 years long contract on good money
we offer 350 over 3years then he would go to 650-700 as we don't over pay until they earn it(Shia Bolton eg)
I know im waffling and you can call me what you want
He is not worth pick 38 thats a JOKE!!
I'm not here to insult you guys but that is a joke.
If he goes through preseason.
Look out when your young come out of contract.

Apart from being very challenged by the English language you have zero understanding of leverage. Richmond has none other than vague threats about the future and trying to litigate the trade through the media.

CCJ is out of contract. Richmond hasn't been able to convince him to sign the contract they have in front of him.
North is offering 2 more years and more money.
North gives him a much better chance of senior football in 2022. At Richmond, he is dependent on injury to get a decent crack.

Richmond has no alternative to a negotiated outcome, given it is highly likely they won't convince him to sign the contract.
North and CCJ both have a perfectly acceptable alternative to a negotiated outcome and that is pick 1 in the PSD.

If he was still contracted then pick 20 would probably be fair. Given the above pick 38 is generous.

Thank you for that. Beautiful.

My favourite is the Richmond poster who reckons a good club would have had the CCJ deal done already.

It's halfway through day one of the trade period.

what you can't take constructive conversation. Put the shoe on the other foot
I think we can all accept that Richmond think he is worth more than pick 38 - he is a good prospect that is down the order at tiger land so he is looking for opportunities elsewhere. Maybe pick 30?

We are giving CCJ an opportunity - we are in the position where we need a developing ruckman and cap space isn't an issue for us.

Compensation however is a negotiation - there is no 'right' answer - there is a ball park answer - 25, 35, 38, 50 - but no 'right' answer.

Like all negotiations it will be depend on the strength of each parties position - we have pick 38 to offer - we could potentially include Taz in the deal but you don't seem interested in that.

We are not handing over 20 because that is too much in our opinion given CCj's track record and we have other plans for that pick as part of our rebuild.

Now in this instance we have the psd available to us and while we have said the psd is a last resort we will use it if required.

There are many at North who are saying stuff Richmond - straight to the PSD for CCJ - however the more moderates around here are happy to part with 38.

I think 38 is fair compensation given the opportunities we are giving CCJ and given the psd exists to assist those who finish 18th.

I think the deal will end up being Tarrant + 38 for CCJ. That way Richmond don't lose the Chol compensation.
Tarrant is a free agent and a separate deal you guys are putting them together
Talking of Tarrant you only offered him a 1 year deal. then I listen to luff lie trying to say they offered 2 but it was only after we offered 2 years

Didn’t anticipate the roadblock to the Macpherson deal being him not wanting to move tbh...
Yea, that seemed the weird part for me in that article. 2 years on good coin when you aren’t getting consistent games, but wants more is a bit suss to me.

Like Ziebell we upped the offer. It’s called negotiation. Boomer survived on one year deals for most of his 30’s and he was playing at a much higher level than those two.

And the Tigers want the trade for Tarrant, so it makes sense to combine the two

Yes, but if Tarrant crosses to Richmond as a free agent the AFL will give you less compensation for Chol. That's something Richmond will want to avoid, and with the presence of another deal between the two clubs, it makes sense.

Probably his manager telling him he has leverage. I'd imagine we have offered a second year on a pretty big haircut. He has a rare chance to be the one that financially benefits from us wanting that pick 19. If we pony up enough cash in the year 2 extension then I suspect it gets done.
