there’s been a group delusion around these parts for a while that Burton is good. He is not. People like the idea of him, the reality is nowhere near as impressive.

Duursma has his flaws. But I’d rather a young hard working player who wants to get the best out of himself as opposed to wingard who wanted 800k to be last to training and first to leave

Apparently the hawks board are suggesting we are aiming to package Ladhams and pick 16 for hawks next years first but they’re not interested at that price.

Understandable why, that could easily be a top 3 pick next year.

That could be great for us if hawks bombed

but if the hawks have a fit midfield and rally under a new coach (which has happened many times) we end up trading Ladhams and pick 16 for a pick around 10-16 (compo picks could push it back as well). That would be a very bad result for us. So great if it comes off but bad if it doesn’t.

The reality is he was 6th on our best and fairest. In a team that finished 3rd. Wingard was 5th for hawthorn, in a team that finished 14th.

No, it’s a question. He’s a terrible decision maker which renders his perceived “elite disposal” moot, and he’s awfully soft. As bad as I’ve seen. His also a far bigger bombscare then perennial whipping boy Riley Bonner. The overall perception of him is so ridiculously inflated it’s not funny.

I really hope this happens. Finlayson is only 25, has a good goalkicking record and I'm bemused at why nobody (including his own club by the sounds of things) thinks he has any trade value. If we get him, we'll be getting him for less than he should be worth.

Dougal Howard has established himself as St Kilda's #1 key defender and finished top 3 in their B&F. We traded him out for what became Dylan Williams (one very poor game at AFL level to date) and a second rounder.

And we threw in Ryder who even at his age is still a better ruckman than Lycett.

And we threw in an upgrade of pick 10 for pick 12, in the process giving up the chance to draft nephew of a club great Kysaiah Pickett who is now a premiership player.

I'm not sure on what planet we 'objectively won' that deal. Right now we're getting smashed.

I doubt we go for aliir if we hold on to Howard. And aliir is significantly better than Howard.

It was a good trade for St Kilda but I don't think it was all that bad for port. Williams has a lot to prove but has the ability to be a high level afl player.
