I prefer they just give us either 12 or Melbourne’s future and we keep 16 and they keep there 31.

That would be my preference but if we are trying to offload him, then we will have to take the hit.

Port have asked the Swans to give them Picks 12 and 31 in return for Ladhams and Pick 16.

The Power would also accept a future second rounder instead of Pick 31.

Ladhams, who is contracted at Alberton for another season, is keen to get to Sydney after they chased him last year.

His back-ended salary is $400,000 in 2022 but averages out to less than $250,000 across the three-year term.

If Sydney and Port orchestrate a trade, the Swans would absorb his entire salary and extend his deal beyond 2022.

I can live with that.

Ladhams is surplus to requirements. We upgrade a first and get a second rounder for him, it's far from an amazing deal but it's not a disaster either. It's a hell of a lot less than we had to give up for Finlayson, who's probably a better player than Ladhams anyway.

Though teams usually want a premium to upgrade a 1st so in reality it is probably better than that

Because that was the perfect opportunity to see if Ladhams was up to it in a 5 week stint

I highly doubt they would still be stuck that far off of the mark.
