Tom Green goes alright. Might not be the best but he’s going to be a gun. I reckon he’ll win the rising star.

My draft fan mate reckoned that Tom Green would be an absolute superstar. He was meant to be the best player in his draft by some margin. Pretty much sounded like what Matty Rowell was doing from day one. Not bad for an academy free hit.

He's not a clogger though is he, he's played good finals games before and been a best 22 player in a consistent top 4 side. He's not a great player but he's adequate. He looks like a ruck who plays forward IMO. Grundy stops him playing in his best spot and up forward he gets used a lot like we use King now, sitting under the drop of the ball for the bomb-in hoping to spill the ball out the back.

When you look at guys like Hickey who's just come good at 30 and Lycett who's done the same at 28 you realise most rucks don't find their best form until late career. Cox is 30 now but started a few years later than most and hasn't had a consistent run at first ruck so I think he could at least be a cheap option to take over from Ryder for a couple of years while we develop a younger ruck. Hopefully we get Ryder to play on but it's not an awful idea.
It's a very reasonable idea but l doubt he'd stick around for a low salary.

James Brayshaw basically guaranteed Adam Cerra will be playing his football in Melbourne next year. Not sure where he’d get that info from....hmmm....oh that’s right his nephew Andrew plays for Freo.

What's Cerra actually like as a player? This year averages:

21.0 disposals
7.2 contested
2.7 tackles
2.5 clearances
4.3 inside 50s
0.2 goals
1.0 goal assists

Looks like an outside mid / half-forward? A bit like Billings maybe?

he's been played across the HBF and Wing. if I was to use a comparison, he's a poor mans Clark

He would get a game for us every week, starting 18

Those averages skewed by his Crows game were he got injured not long into the first quarter?
He has been really good, I don't think he is a poor man's Clark at all...

Yeah, looks like it. Without the Crows game:

24.4 disposals
8.0 contested
3.0 tackles
2.8 clearances
5.0 inside 50s
0.2 goals
1.2 goal assists

Compared to Clark:

22.0 disposals
7.3 contested
3.7 tackles
2.1 clearances
2.2 inside 50s
0.2 goals
0.3 goal assists

Not a huge amount to split them on the stats at this point, Cerra has slightly better numbers.

listening to the G Train interview and geeze he made some absolutely amazing points. especially on the current group.

"I love steele, he leads by example. he reminds me of Hammil and Roo who would lead by example and set the standard during the week at training. but I think we need more than him, we need some guys to get on the wagon with him. we need 3-5 guys like him. we need a bit more mongrel in there and get nasty. i was speaking to someone in the rooms and they said we are very polite and too nice. i think we are too nice. we need to really want to win. we need to take it personally. we are out there to beat an opponent. we need to do everything we can to win"

that is absolutely spot on IMO from the outside looking in.

Hope we see him at some stage this year.

Me too.

The VFL report suggesting that opposition teams rate his impact well enough to clamp down on him.

Yeah me too. Hearing a lot about this kid. The last kid I heard about who was pumped up this much was Bytel. Before that Sinclair.

He is 100% a list clogger. You couldn't watch him play and come to any other conclusion. Every Pie fan I know cannot stand the bloke.
