Butler has really dropped off but I’ll back him in to bounce back to some form.

I will say that I doubt we’ll see the sort of year he had last year repeated but his pace, roving and goal sense will make him a handful for opposition defences. Lonie is a different story he’s not best 22 imo but if he’s willing to sign one year contracts as depth then I’d keep him.

My Tiger mates reckon he's a one season wonder so I'm a bit biased.

Well they’d certainly be hoping that’s the case. They wouldn’t want him getting in the AA squad again. Never trust opposition supporters on players they’ve lost that are going ok

They said it before he came to us, one wasn't upset at all about him although he did say we accidentally gave you the wrong Dan when he was going well.

I wouldn't trade either of those guys, even for a top 10 pick. Coffield is down on form and confidence and Clark has had a pretty good year. Both are capable of much much more, and I think both will hit those heights in the next year or two.

Can’t believe people are even considering trading Clark or Coff. They are both top 10 picks.
Jeez talk about throwing the “babies” out with the bath water.

What do you do with a forward who has kicked 4 goals this year in 9 games? You move him on that's the answer, dont hand out one year contracts even for depth.

Having Higgins , Butler , Gresham who are all good small forwards Lonie will find it hard to stay on the list when you also have young kids coming through like Byrne and Bytel.

Butler was excellent the year they won the flag the following year he had a injury and never got back into the side and the first year for us was outstanding so he has already had 2 very good years - and he is a year younger than Billings.
It has to be remembered as well at times this year he has been starved in the forward line and strange they have not thrown him on a wing or even in the middle.

We are lucky to have picked up 2 great small forwards from the Tigers - Higgins last game he picked up 24 touches and the game before 23 which is huge for a half forward.

We get Gresham back and we flush with small forwards.

Need Gresh and Snaggs rotating. Fill the holes by other means.

He’s played 85 games and despite the perception that he doesn’t tackle he does bring good forward pressure.

He’ll be lucky to survive but we have so much deadwood and at present 1 pick in the first two rounds so a few who aren’t great will still be on the list next year. I’d rather move on players in that bracket who can be traded then look at who’s left. What’s the point of hanging onto long for example, won’t get a game as a back or as a small forward but has some trade value.

Didn't Lonie have a games based trigger for next year?

Has 11 games to his total for this year (played 9 but sub for 2 which gets added to their total now). Would have to be close to activating that extra year.

Legit or wishing thinking
Was told this last night by someone close to the action. Club trying to work on a way to get band 1 comp for him. They’re willing to work with us. With Buddy, Kennedy near the end and they’re keen on Billing’s with his age bracket for the kids. They have a huge cap space once Buddy retires. Parker off contract years end that gives them flexibility with front and back ended terms on both.

We definitely need to hang onto Clark. Coffield would only net us a junk pick. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is delisted after current contract expires. If it wasn’t for our injury list he would have barely played after the first month of the season.

Given that its his worst season for goals in 7 years, you wouldn't try to work out why? Old age at 25?

Coffield was unlucky to not make AA last year. He was in the top 5 in the whole competition for marking, intercepts, intercept marking etc. He has been below average this year and that's surely an indictment on our player management and development that someone has gone so far backwards. We'd better to fix that stuff than keep sacking players and bringing new ones in.

You'd delist a 20 year old who finished in the top 7 in the B&F less than 12 months ago because he's had a poor season?

Wow.
