I was there but was young
My Dad spoke about this game for years and years He just loved George Young

Was there.

George was initially a half forward flanker but moved to full forward the week before against Footscray at the Western Oval. He proceeded to kick 9 goals and in doing so provided me with my most exciting experience as a fan to that date.

The next week against Collingwood at Moorabbin he kicked 8 however was overshadowed by Carmen who kicked 11 (think it was his first game back after a spell and first time in the white boots)

GY was my first fave and I sometimes got to say hello at training on a Tuesday or Thursday after school.

My duffle coat survives to this day although the 2 & the 7 disappeared many decades ago.

I'd be all for the club laying low this trade period, take our first round pick to the draft and get rid of a bit of deadwood for some 3rd or 4th rounders and back in what we have for 2022.

Next year we trade heavily for Ben King even if it's overs, do what is necessary to set us up for 2023 and beyond.

Call it a gut feeling but those two were delivered by Mrs King to deliver us a premiership.

SPINE:

Howard
Battle (This could be temporary since Carlisle/Frawley have retired, may as well give him a crack there)
Steele
Marshall
King
King

I feel like a broken record advocating to do whatever it takes to get Ben in but I feel so strongly about it. More than likely I've just convinced myself it's the only way forward so I doubt there's any changing my mind lol.

If the Saints go to the Suns next year and say we want to trade for Ben King, you know, your only Key Forward, i think the Suns would say, we want draft picks and players, starting with Marshall, would we deal. Meanwhile Essendon will be in the next room trying to do a deal for Bing as well. When the Saints officials walk out of the meeting, at a stale mate, they say hello to Graham Wright as he walks in for a meeting on the same subject. Could be interesting.

Are Essendon ready to give up Draper for Bing? I think the answer may be 'not on your nelly'.

If Ben King wants out, and nominates St Kilda as his destination point then the GC are just going to have to make the best of a very bad situation.

The Saints will have to give to get, or the Suns could decide the Saints aren't being fair dinkum and let Bing walk to the Draft and then the spooners get Bing.

End of season 2022 Bing packs his bags for the last time and informs his teammates that he won't be back.

His manager informs the Suns he wants to be traded to Stkilda (as if they didn't already know) and that he won't be entertaining any other club.

Saints table 2x FRDP but the Suns want that and a best 22 player. Leathers tells them to EAD.
They settle on a non best 22 player, possibly Battle or Allison, and Saints get a 2nd round pick back.

Instead of using those picks to acquire 2 mature quality players, the Suns hit the draft again taking a West Australian and 2 Victorians. The tragedy rolls on.

Or the Suns players next year decide to stick together to help the club climb up the ladder and Bing and his mates re-sign for another 2 years. The possibilities are endless.

More than 20 St Kilda players have been vaccinated.

The footballers turned up to get their jab at the Genesis Medical Centre in Bentleigh as part of a drive to encourage more young people to get the vaccine.

Among the group was captain Jack Steele and teammates Cooper Sharman, Jack Billings and Mason Wood.

(From the Herald Sun)
Great to hear that the Saints boys are getting vaccinated. Lots of cases out of the USA wher elite sports people getting Covid and ending up with long Covid or heart/lung damage that puts them out of their sport for extended periods. We can rely on St Kilda luck to get the pointy end of the Covid stick if our boys don't get vaccinated.

Steele , Marshall and King are untouchables but if we get in Ben King they will want someone , however that someone would want to go there.

There is a subtle difference. We aren't getting anyone. Ben wants to get to us.
