Absolutely reeks of Acres to me. Tall player playing in multiple positions and master of none. Has the size to dominate but never puts it together.

Everyone was up in arms when we traded him but he hasn’t turned it on since leaving.

Acres for mine was always one of our best at the very end of games due to his extremely good tank.

For what we gave up, Hill has been nothing short of underwhelming

Jack Billings wont be All Australian - he's not a pure midfielder. When's the last time they actually put a real wingman/HFFer in the AA team

Plus I cant see Billings reaching AA level unfortunately. I'd be happy for him just to be consistently top 5-10 in our best & fairest, which he isnt at present

Billings in the guts is a liability

He's a genuine forward flanker.

He didnt enter a centre bounce in his last 4 or 5 games.

But yes, he'd be much better in their than Billings.

Such a big pre season for the draft crops of 2017/18...

It's their club now, should all take the bit between their teeth and show up in phenomenal condition.

I'm a big watch on Coffield, in an ideal world he takes Ross's position in the midfield as a wing/mid.

Our starting on ball brigade vs Carlton in pre season was Steele, Gresham, Clark. It should be that again rnd 1 injury permitting...

I like battle but if he doesn't cement a spot next year we're gonna lose him for change at the end of it. A few years back when he played chb we could have got something good for him, but now it's not looking likely. And he's behind highmore and wilkie.. if I was him I'd get a few strands of their hair and a voodoo doll, cos he aint getting a game as a KPD unless one of them go down

I don't see Coff being able to make that transition unfortunately. Just seems to lack the ability to win contested footy and looks a bit fumbly when the ball is in tight.

Clark needs to have a big pre season and show the coaches he's desperate to get in there. He's wasted off a back flank and has the ability to be an a grade mid.

Byrnes a like too but we really need more top end talent in there.

I must be watching a different coffield
To me he is calm under pressure
creates space for himself in tight, Is very good by foot, reads the play and can has a turn of speed…also takes a good grab, he moves a lot like Lenny Hayes.
Let’s not forget, Petracca was putrid until 2020

Our biggest issue is drafting & development - its been horrific for a decade

Biggest indicator of that is our current #1 midfield rotation - Steele, Crouch, Jones - all players poached from other clubs

I dont think there is another club in the league who's best midfield 3 are all players from other clubs

Very much hoping the tide has turned with the likes of Gresham, Clark, potentially even Coffield being able to go through there. Coffield is the interesting one for mine - his under 18 year had him rolling from half back & into the midfield - he had some epic head to head battles with Cam Rayner in the guts & would just about break even. Hope we could bring that edge back into his game

As for trades this year, I'd be looking at potentially giving Robbie Tarrant a deal if he's not getting one at North - feel he's a safer defensive backup than Talia even though he's older.

Narkle & Constable are interesting ones. I'd say yes to both, but only take Constable if both Ross & Dunstan leave. Narkle could potentially play half forward, wing & roll through the middle as well, ideally in a Shai Bolton-type role

The fact we are hiring one person to oversee this means the club knows this also. It ls a great re structure and will attract developing young players

Where are we going to get this top end talent? The midfield is average but I keep hearing how good it is and how good it is going to be...how? Steele is the man...and that is ad nauseam x 50, ........Jones and Crouch are good campaigners, Dunstan is almost gone (ave 25 disposals a game)and the others have not proved themselves yet. A few coming back from injuries. Where is the speed apart from Jones? This midfield would not be striking fear into a lot of teams, there is no brute power about it at all. The forward line is probably the strength of the team and will sneak us into the finals in 2022

I would like Narkle to be considered.
I also think McLean or Flynn are ideal as a support to Marshal. Would look at both if possible.

so add these two and a nice midfielder at pick 9
Could be three inclusions that improve the list..?
I wouldn’t go past Constable either. He doesn’t fit our need as much but could be a good get for young depth and replace ross

Depends what we are after and who we can afford. Been told we are looking at a number of players targeting specific weaknesses.

Without be specific, it sounds as though our cap may not be as tight as some thought it was.
