That ship has sailed. We ain’t getting anything in return for Dunstan. A club will simply sign Dunstan outside of free agency as a rookie or in the PSD AFTER we end up delisting him. Fairly obvious it wasn’t a very good separation. No way he goes back to the club, he wouldn’t have it. Ratts wouldn’t have it either. I’ve accepted we ain’t getting jack for him.
I do think the club made a mistake handling this. Should of said we need to see where we're at after trade week, but you're welcome to look at options.

Sad to say it, but I can’t remember a year where there has been so little contribution from ITK’s.
In years gone by we’d heard plenty of speculative trades from credible sources that at the very least gave us something to talk about.
I barely refresh my browser any more

Two reasons anyone with info get shitcanned for making up BS so they don't post it here.

Second is there is very little to report from a Saints perspective.

Why would we delist him when there's an outside chance he signs during FA and we get something back?

He'll be a DFA and can sign where he wants (if anyone wants him) after the 1st list lodgement.

You're just exaggerating to make you own opinion sound better. Bytel spent weeks languishing at the medical sub... and only had a handful of VFL games to push his way into the team. Gets a full game, goes head to head with Mundy and shows he's got a bright future.

I'm at a loss why anyone would want Dunstan over a super young talent like Bytel. Bizarre.

I think the issue is

leo cough cough Connolly and Jack Sinclair both are at that level. Leo not yet but will be and Sincs is there.
I'll bite. On what planet is Connolly at the level of Daniel? He has played about 7 games and probably kicked 3 very nice kicks which everyone drooled over. You said he was and then said he wasnt but will be. Sinclair is a good kick but not to the level of Daniel- not near it. A major exaggeration.

Kicking wise, pure kicking. In terms of there creativity, willingness to pull the trigger on those kicks and kicks under pressure. Granted Leo has had far fewer opportunities to show it but im confident over time he’ll show that he’s at Calebs level. Take out the ball winning the running etc etc. purely talking about the kicking ability.

Is it just me, or would it be pretty rogue for Ladhams to go to Sydney? They just resigned McLean, and have Hickey and co. Plus what are they gonna offer Port? Dawson’s already on his way to crom unless that goes **** up.

Hawthorn seems a better fit since they’re getting rid of ceglar. But again, they’re trying to retain picks… 🤷‍♂️

Dont think Dawson is quite there yet- might be a bit to play.

Sydney wanted Ladhams last year in return for Aliir but Port rejected that.

I never compared their output, simply their playing styles. I think there’s absolutely merit in comparing their playing style and I don’t see any comparison in style between Gresham and the two players you’ve mentioned.
OK I must have got "career path" mixed up with "playing style". But I never mentioned playing style, you did, funny that, but only in your 2nd post. ;)

Its called changing the "narrative" But maybe I missed a post when you compared their "playing styles"?

I thought the same until I listened to the Ratten and Dunstan interviews.

Not sure what else we could have done to be honest.

He was never told he was delisted, just that it would be in his best interest to look around, which Dunstan agreed with.

Dunstan is the one that said he won't take a deal from the club.

Ratten has never stated that he wouldn't be offered a deal, but it's obvious that ship has sailed now.

Why would Sydney do that? I read somewhere that they offered Sinclair a 1 yr contract as well. Correct me if I am wrong.

You're right. I'm guessing.

Based on the fact he's had this contract in front of him for some time and has only just signed.

I think it's a pretty safe bet to assume other clubs didn't go after him.

The fact he's won 2 b&fs says a lot about where we've been at.

Anyway. He's still a Saint. It is what it is. My hope is he's seen as depth and only plays if injuries dictate we need him.
Why can it never be he stayed for less because he loves the club and as for depth he finished 7th in the b&f. I’d love him to be depth because it will mean the saints are flying but I’m betting their both best 22 round 1. Billings and Ross have both signed on and as far as I’m concerned that‘s good enough for me. Both look like being one club players now which imo is something we should celebrate, clubs need stability and experience which they provide.

There's nothing happening this year. Tight caps, reduced list sizes.

Something's happening!

A young Roo is the latest name on the ruck merry-go-round as big men become the focus of this year’s trade period

Tristan Xerri is the newest name on the ruck merry-go-round as the potential implications begin from Tiger Callum Coleman-Jones’ impending arrival at North Melbourne.

St Kilda is on the hunt for a younger ruckman to partner Rowan Marshall beyond next year, which looms as veteran big man Paddy Ryder’s last in the AFL.

It’s understood the Saints have honed in on contracted Kangaroo Xerri after also showing interest in Western Bulldog Jordon Sweet, who remains without a contract for 2022 and is linked to West Coast.

The Bulldogs have made Sweet an offer to stay, but he was overlooked in the finals for Lewis Young, who has since requested a trade to Carlton.

North Melbourne would have to be willing to trade Xerri, who isn’t out of contract until the end of next year.

He averaged 21.5 disposals, 15.5 contested possessions, 5.5 clearances and 26.2 hit-outs in six VFL games this year, but played only eight matches at senior level, all in the second half of the season.

Todd Goldstein remains the clear No. 1 ruck option at the Roos but turns 34 next year, when his three-year contract expires.

Tom Campbell kept 201cm Xerri out of the side up until Round 13 while serving as Goldstein’s deputy.

North has identified Coleman-Jones as Goldstein’s ruck successor and convinced him to cross to Arden St, with a trade set to be brokered with Richmond before Wednesday week.

But that would leave Xerri, 22, third in line in the ruck at the Kangaroos as he enters his fifth season at AFL level.

Several other clubs, including Hawthorn, the Bulldogs, Brisbane, Sydney and even Geelong, are also surveying the ruck market.

To make it clear for everyone on that front, as I haven't been following recent talk in this thread.

Our current player list stands at:

31 senior

6 rookie

We need to add a minimum of 5 players to the senior list (36 to 38 limit) and rookies will cap out between 4 to 6 (depending on size of senior list)

We need to take minimum 3 players at the national draft.
