It will burn even more if the Dogs win this weekend and heaven forbid they win the flag..... oh what could have been.I’m still hurting. Less so, but it’s still painful.
Parker doesn't really add significant pace, but he would definitely be a worthwhile addition to our midfield and forward options.Mitchell is too similar to Neale we need pace that’s where someone likes Parker comes
How about Stephen Coniglio?
I actually think we can use his unfortunate situation at gws to our advantage. Let's look at the facts. Stephen is a fantastic player who is absolutely shot on confidence. Fagan is the perfect coach to not only restore his confidence, but bring him to the level that he was going to get too before things went backwards at GWS. Financially speaking, GWS will have a tight cap space and would want to move a few players on as their young guns begin to ask for bigger contracts. And whatever picks are asked off the giants shouldn't be too much. Honestly, besides Parker (who looks to be off the market) he is the best player out there that looks at least gettable. Surely it's worth a shot? The thought has crossed my mind but it is a risk and realistically, what would we need to give up for him and how much salary would we need to take on?
I have seen a suggestion that he could be involved in a 3 way deal involving us and Freo and didn't think it was the worst idea I've ever heard. How about Stephen Coniglio?
Coniglio's potential is far greater than Neale's. He just needs the right environment to get there and I think our club is the perfect place to make that happen. Seriously, if we traded Neale on and brought in Coniglio and somehow had additional draft picks left over, I would consider that a win for us.I have seen a suggestion that he could be involved in a 3 way deal involving us and Freo and didn't think it was the worst idea I've ever heard.
Potential? Neale and Coniglio will both be 28 come Round 1 next season. If Coniglio's potential is greater than Neale's why hasn't he reached it? And surely he is unlikely to do so now? I agree a fresh start under Fagan could probably get him back to some better form, he's had injury issues at GWS and his confidence is shot, he hasn't handled the pressure of the captaincy well at all. I did think about the prospect of adding Coniglio but I think it's a no from me, would rather take the draft picks and try reinvigorate the midfield/overall list. In saying that if we did end up with Coniglio I'd get on board the idea pretty quickly and be excited about what he could offer us.Coniglio's potential is far greater than Neale's. Your sarcasm needs to be more ridiculous, otherwise Poe's law comes into play pretty early on.Surprised anyone took my post seriously.

I've been thinking about our genius trading record. We had an incredible few years but the last 2 we haven't done that well, i would contend.
PRE 2020 season:
Neale - paid a bit but absolute star.
Cameron - paid a bit but gun
McCarthy - paid very little, great player
Adams - interesting one, paid a little bit, missed a whole season, but when he was on the park this year he was exceptional, so still a clear win for me
Hodge - great acquisition did exactly what he was meant to, played better than we had hoped
Lyons - one of the great bargains in the club's history.
2020 AND BEYOND
Ah Chee - been decent. Still think a good trade but probably hasn't come on like we hoped. Still a pass.
Daniher - a tricky one. No picks given, but plenty of cash. Played every game, kicked goals. Wasn't jumping well by the end of the season and was struggling to kick 50m. Maybe getting tired. Judge after another season
Cockatoo - Need another season to judge. Needs to get his speed back or be willing to go faster. Hope he can be a gun still but not proven yet - couldn't pick him on his current output so jury's out
Birchall - played nearly every game. Clearly not fit and a long way from the Birchall at Hawthorn. Hasn't made us a better team or defence. I am very keen to see the back of him but didn't pay anything so can't call a failure.
CEY - looks an awful choice right now. We needed a big bodied mid but not a slow one. And inexplicably for a player who had played 39 games in 8 years he got a four year contract. Strangest acquisition we have made in this era. Has remained injury prone.
The other aspect is the players we have let go in the past couple of years.
KEAYS - would clearly be in our squad now. Tricky one as needed midfield time we couldn't give. Would be much better cover than Matho.
CUTLER - haven't watched him really closely but getting a game at Essendon and seems to be doing okay. Such a nice long kick and good pace.
WITHERDEN - thought he really regressed and understood trading him out. But playing Birchall (no upside) over Witherden seemed odd.
TAYLOR - always liked Lewy but not doing much at Sydney
WALKER - would have been a very handy inclusion this year I reckon, forward giving a contest and part time ruck. But no world beater.
You can't get every decision right. But we've had a few misses the past couple of years and I hope we have learnt something from it.
No more players in unless they are best 22 locks.
And I think we probably have enough players in the squad now with extended injury histories.
I think Cockatoo will turn out a huge positive. The guy was virtually crippled when he came to us and the game time he got this year will be invaluable. With a full pre-season he could be an X factor next year.I've been thinking about our genius trading record. We had an incredible few years but the last 2 we haven't done that well, i would contend.

Perhaps I am not being very generous with him. Completely agree that he would have been better with assistance. But i do want to see him get back a bit of kicking length and leap next year. Earlier in the season we were bemoaning his mark of the year attempts but he almost seemed to just stop going for them at all?Daniher would be a big win in my eyes - hardly could get on park with Essendon. Came to us, played 24 games straight and kicked 46 goals. I'd say if McStay played in both QF and semi, Daniher would have got to 50 goals this season. Amazing achievement considering the previous 15 games over 3 years base he was coming from.
