Not sure what that's about, I thought they we going to allow him to train with the hope of getting picked up again.

The West ran with a story. The story was only ever that Freo were considering a potential lifeline for Dixon. The same article in the West said there were no promises or guarantees. No direct quotes from Freo.

Posters on here ran with it being a definite change of mind that he is being selected in the rookie draft.

I’ve tried to point out a number of times that there isn’t a list spot for Dixon and that if he is to be considered it would be at the mid season draft and that he would be considered along with other options.

We can open up a spot for mid season by placing someone to injury inactive list or promoting rookie like Hughes to the primary list.

The recent article on Dixon was that East Fremantle have signed him. Based on that article there appears some truth that Freo will consider Dixon but he won’t be training with Freo.

The ole misunderstanding and Chinese whispers. Again many were convinced he would be selected in either a rookie draft or SSP but I’ve felt all along neither were an option for Dixon.

Training Recap

Team spent just over an hour on the track today with mostly ball work which is great to see and seems to be a trademark of preseason with JL.

Once on the field a quick warmup with run throughs of the ground, before switching into a bunch of ball movement drills. Skills were looking sharp for day one, but it needs to be said that the pressure element was very low in the drills.

After about an hour they switched to some more full ground run throughs which a bunch of the coaches joined in for.

After this most players stayed out and did 15 or so minutes of skills relevant to their positions - goa kicking, tucking etc. Those coming back from season ending injuries - Young, Logue, Switta went straight to the gym at this point.

Duman ran laps for most of the session with his wrist still in a splint following surgery - thankfully this won't interrupt his fitness base so once out of the splint can rejoin the main group straight away.

Tucker did one on one work with a few of the rehab staff - he looks very lean again this year. Lots of running and didn't look at all hampered by his hamstring injury - should be looking to return to full training with the main group in early January.

Wilson, Blakely, Tucker and Ryan those who made an early return today despite not being due back until January.

Giro, Valente, Cox and Freddy unsighted - but all still stuck in Adelaide due to border closures.

Didn't see Sturt - but he had post season surgery. Not sure if he was the one player who could be seen doing rehab in the gym.

No sight of Hamling.

No sight of Hugh Dixon with the club confirming he hasn't been invited to train with the club.

Any questions ask away and I'll try to answer.

Thanks for the report.

Did you notice the new coaches??

Legend - keep up the great work much appreciated

Matthew Boyd was there, with Tendai out on the field too now that he's officially a development coach.

Joel Corey will come across after Christmas when the full squad returns.

Peter Bell mentioned at the members meeting that they gave Boyd the option to come across in January but he was adamant on being here for day 1 so did his two weeks quarantine - and will go back for Christmas with family in Victoria before moving back to Perth officially in January.

Great to see Logue and Young out there in the thick of it.
Were the relegated rookies (Bewley, Schultz, Banfield) all there?

think I read on Twitter from Schmook that Bewley and Schultz were there, Banfield not able to join

Hi Everyone

Slight change to threads again.

Because pre-season reports are awesome, they need to be easily reached and seen by everyone.

Please refer to the stickied thread "https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2021-pre-season-reports.1252362/" for pre-season reports.

That thread is strictly for pre-season reports, this thread is for all discussion.

In addition, serious pre-season reports are above reproach 99% of the time. IF you dont like a post, its too cheery or too negative, you are welcome to head down to training and provide your own report that is more in line with your views.

Attacking posters for a pre-season report you dont agree with will not be tolerated

Finally, I promise to de-sticky this post in a couple of days =)

I was there this morning, sadly a long way away from the action.Had my camera to post pics on another site.
Looking at the club photos, Connor Blakely has come back in way way better shape than for 2020.
He struggled to try to catch up, but was never in the hunt.
Hopefully he can do a Son Son and turn things around.

That must be the trimmest I've ever seen big Darcy, fu** I hope he can hit his straps this year, one of my favourites.

Darcy looks in ripping shape. Henry looks in great condition too. Very exciting.

Anyone know if Cox broke out with the forward or defence group during the specialised skill session?

Cox is stuck in SA or alternatively in 14-days quarantine

Cox still in SA - Giro the only one to make it home but he is still in quarantine.

Schultz and Bewley weren't there today, but will start pre season tomorrow

These WA border restrictions will disadvantage Freo.
Ethan Hughes was on 6PR tonight. He said that the SA boys like Valente, Freddy and Cox did a session back in Adelaide to replicate what was happening at Cockburn today.
