The biggest unknown of the the digital and information accessible era from a draft point of view is the 2023 AFLM Draft.

Where do we start with the discussions?

The only names I've seen a few times for this draft are:

George Stevens. (VC.) (Though, he might be for 2022.)
Lukas Zvaigzne. (SA.)
Tyzreise Clark. (WA.)
Hayze Griffiths. (WA.)

Have no idea about any of these players.

As in, I've read about them and know of them but wouldn't have a Scooby Doo as to how they play and how good they are.

First time in a long time that we've waited for even a morsel of information to form the basis of our expectations on names for this draft.

At least the boys born in 2004 have had some exposure.

The folk born in 2005, unknown quantities.

Between 2023-2025, we'll see quite a few speculative picks. (Throw in 2026 if the 2019 U12's squads had names born in 2008.)
The likes we've not seen probably since before BigFooty was founded.

Let the speculation, rumination and recommendations begin.

From the Hawthorn board, there are at least 2 F/S names to look out for.

Calsher Dear. (Paul.)
Ned Maginness. (Scott.)

Richmond has a guy called Nathan Louw who's part of their NGA for 2023.

Early days but Callan Albrecht from East Freo Futures caught my eye.

Likes to find open space on the outside, runs hard and backs himself.

From today's games, Nicholas Watson (Eastern Ranges, Midfielder/ Small Forward) listed at 169 cm was best on in the U17s game v Oakleigh, overheard Eastern coaches compare him to Tyler Sonsie which isn't far off
Nate Caddy (Northern Knights, Midfielder) was listed at 188 cm but I don't think that's right, either way was a strong ball winner at stoppages in particular, used it well going forward to

Because of the Covid situation last year can anyone confirm if this year is going to be 16s or 17s National championships ? dates when on ?

17s in July
Thanks, can you also confirm if the age group is U17's (kids who turn 16 in 21) or 17's (kids who turn 17 in 21) ? The AFL refer to it as U17's my take on that is kids who turn 16 this year are only eligible to play.

Kids who turn 17 this year, like most of the time it's referred to as 'Under' whatever age

When is Shaun Burgoyne’s oldest son draft age.

From an SA point of view, the leading possesion winner in the U/16 SF between Sturt and Glenelg was Lucas Camporeale, who would be eligible for Carlton as a F/S.

Will Rowlands a big talent played U16’s for Norwood in SANFL.

Wont show big possession numbers but a goal kicking mid who I think tied or was close to the comps leading goal kicker. He’s your 15-20 + 3-4 goals kind of kid

South Australia initial under 17 state squad had the following under 16s in squad ( i believe they have to play 3? in each game)
Jack Delean - South Adel
Max Downs - West Adel
Luke Harvey - North Adel
Jayden Matz - Central Districts
Kane McAuliffe - North Adel
Ashton Moir - Glenelg
Will Patton - West Adel
Oscar Pearce - WWT
Ben Ridgway - Glenelg
Tom Shirmer - South Adel
Luca Slade - Sturt
Oscar Talbot - West Adel
Trent Tattoli - Central Districts
Jedd Thomson - WWT
Angus Tully - North Adel
Tom Wheaton - South Adel

I thought someone else had been keeping this one up to date!

Zane Duursma debuted a few games back, looks comfortable at NAB League level so is an early one looking good from VIC

Nick Watson of the Eastern Ranges is debuting against Sandringham tomorrow and Christian Martini from the Northern Knights isn't far off as he's been named in their emergencies for tomorrow
