If I could draft Kobe Ryan now I would. Killing it in the under 18s for West this year. BOG in the 3 games i've seen. Short but pacey, total ball magnet, gets in and wins his own ball, spreads hard and finds room on the outside. Would like him to get a touch taller though.

Will Verrall has had a bit of a slow start to the year but had a ripper against the Eagles. Should be a top 10 pick. Can play forward and ruck.

Isaac Keeler if he continues his development could be a top 10 pick as well. Not many guys his size with his mobility that can take a strong grab and can kick a goal. Reminds me so much of a draft age Paddy Ryder.

Hunter Carter looks like he's about 22 already. His dad was tough as nails and he's no different. Shame he misses out on Port F/S.

A couple not mentioned that i've liked the look of so far:
Koby Cockshell - 195cm forward for South who is well built and runs like the wind. Very quick off the mark. Can take a strong mark and has a very nice kicking action. 8.2 for the year so far. Theres a bit of Stringer in him and a bit of Chad Cornes. Stack of potential.

Mattaes Phillipou - 187cm athletic inside mid who is super fit, can run hard all day and is the perfect blend of inside and outside. Has super quick hands and is one of the best decision makers under pressure you'll see. Last two games have been 34 disp, 7 clear, 6i50, 3 tackles and 36 disp, 4 clear, 3 i50, 3 tackles.

I wonder if Koby and Mateus are related to former SANFL players Adam Cockshell and Peter Phillipou, certainly not common surnames.

Just on Koby he was playing seniors for Kingscote as a 15 year old, seems he's a goal kicking machine...

Peter is the father of Sam Phillipou (WWT/Port & Footscray) who is the father of Mattaes

Not sure about Adam. He's only 34 so its possible but unlikely. I dont recall hearing about him having a child when he was with Port. Then again Nasiah Wanganeen's dad is Terry Milera who's only 33 so anything is possible.

From all reports Keeler is a gun. We shouldn't have whinged to much about Ugle-Hagen, they may have kept the same rules and we could have drafted him this year. Though we still may be able to yet, though a speedy midfielder, like Kobe Ryan that you have mentioned, should be who we target if Keeler is projected top 10.

I assume Hunter Carter is Stephen's son. If so, if he is as good a player as his dad, he should be very good. His old man was as hard as nails as well. Also one of the few that stood out for you guys in the 97 GF against us(Norwood). After a quick look I noticed he was drafted by Essendon in 1994 but chose not to go, like a few Port blokes.

Keeler is 2022 draft not this year, he's there for any club that wants him inside pick 41?

Ah, my mistake about the draft year. In hindsight, if read the list it did state it was for 2022.

As far as the NGA part goes, I know that this year it applies to only the first round, that is why I made that comment. As for it not being the first 2 rounds, if you can't draft a kid in your NGA in the second round, why have it at all. If a club wants a kid badly enough from another clubs NGA, they could draft them in the first round. Anyway, there is probably a separate thread for that discussion.

This year will see the final running of the AF U15 batch of games with next year seeing the renaming of U15 to U14 but the U12's will continue.

The bulk of these kids were born in 2004.

Here is Victoria's squad for 2019:

Cooper Harvey, Parade College, Bundoora

Key names:

Cooper Harvey (Brent.)
Will Ashcroft (Marcus.)

This group of players will be eligible for the 2022 AFL Draft.

Looks like he has moved to Assumption College

ACK took on Peninsula on the hallowed Carroll Oval today. Boys got jump early & at half time led 8-9-57 to 2-1-13.
In the second half the boys played well an ran out winners 14-17-101 to 6-1-37Major goalkickers were Brody Glenn 3,
Jedd Longmire 2, Cooper Harvey 2 & Anthony Depasquale 2

Better players in no particular order Cooper Harvey,
Darcy Stewart, Jedd Longmire, Liam Hall

I heard Matthew Rendell on SEN during the week and he put up Will Ashcroft as his standout and potential number 1 in this draft class, do any of our BF draft board experts agree with this?

Hopefully for the Lions Rendell's rating of him is accurate.

He's very good, but it's way too early to be calling anyone a standout Pick 1 candidate. Certainly in the mix at this stage, but U17's champs will tell us much more

I prefer Elijah Tsatas from Oakleigh (currently has a collarbone injury) and I really like Kobe Ryan from SA aswell.

I’d have Ashcroft top 10 at this stage at least.

Surely Jed Hagan from WA throws his hat in the ring. Won the medal for best overall player at the National U15’s two years in a row (2018 and 2019- the last two carnivals they have had) and has been consistently producing the goods at WAFL Colts last year and this. Is the only 2004 named in the initial WA U/19’s this year (not sure what that means in real time as he is also in the U17’s so I assume he can’t travel with both teams). The knock on him is his height but there is room for sub-180 players at AFL level. Wasn’t sold on him but keeps finding the footy so thats all he has to do.

Yer, I don't follow the drafts that closely let alone ones another year out except for on here and afl draft central, the one most seem to think is the maybe number 1 in 2022 is Tsatas who eDPS mentioned above.

Jed Hagan will be up there too, he is very talented, just depends on how he develops, saw a couple of East Frem games last year and the 4 who stood out were Jack Carrol(02), Brandon Walker(02), Joshua Browne(03) and Jed Hagan(04), so as long as they continue to develop im guessing they have a good chance to be drafted.

Ryan is a little gun, he wouldn't be out of place playing league for west atm. Cockshell I have enjoyed very much, didn't know about his KI stats they are impressive. Keeler could be anything and agree completely about a Paddy Ryder clone, very similar.

Agreed wholeheartedly with Keeler. His only limit is the one he puts on himself. If he works hard could literally be anything. From a natural talent perspective he has everything. However sometimes he is very frustratingly lazy

3 kids i have liked the look of for the 2022 draft

Fraser Bone - West Adelaide
Jed Hagan - East Frem
Lachlan Cowan - Tasmania

West Adelaide seriously have like 4 Bone's for next year and that isn't a criticism on Fraser just that west have 3 other kids all 199 or above who can all play. It's crazy. Something in the water down there for 2022

Height will be a key feature of the initial 2021 Torrens University SA U17 Squad which has been selected in the lead up to this year’s AFL U17 National Championships.

Set to be coached by championship-winning mentor Julian Farkas, the Croweaters will have as many as eight talls measuring in at no less than 195cm in their 49-player squad.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Farkas noted there were also several players topping 190cm with all having a nice blend of athleticism and versatility.

South trio Will Verrall (200cm), Kyle Marshall (198cm) and Koby Cockshell (195cm) are among the giants selected, together with West pair Harry Barnett (202cm) and Tom Scully (201cm).

Exciting North Adelaide forward Isaac Keeler (197cm) will be one to watch, with Farkas likening the indigenous talent to former Power and current St Kilda ruckman Paddy Ryder.

Familiar surnames in the squad include Sturt’s Luca Slade, son of Central premiership midfielder Matthew, and Eagles pair Matteus Phillipou and Hunter Carter, sons of former Eagles and Magpie Sam Phillipou and Port premiership defender Stephen Carter respectively.

After training begins on June 1, the squad will play an internal trial match at Thebarton Oval on Friday June 11. After this, selectors will trim the squad down to 30 – three of which must be 16-year-olds – for the AFL National Championships.

South Australia will play its first game against Western Australia on Sunday June 20 at Hisense Arena before heading to Queensland to tackle Victoria Metro on Tuesday July 6 and Victoria Country on Friday July 9.

So SA and WA travel to Victoria to play each other? Isn’t Hisense in Melbourne?
