I didn't see the game (is there a link anywhere) but Henry's big tick is his hands - look as clean s a whistle.

He’s 194cm, that should be plenty tall enough unless he’s up against the 200cm uber talls.
Yeah unless you're Caleb Daniel, height isn't that important. You can be Leo Barry 184cm. Matty Scarlett 192cm or Darcy Moore 204cm. It's about how well you read the ball in the air and protect the drop zone. Being taller gives you th opportunity to attack more in the air like Darcy does, but defensively it's more about positioning and body work. And Barry and Scarlett were better defensively than Moore is,

Sier very influential for us. Should be playing in the firsts.

Henry will be a very good player for us very soon.

Great to see Wilson have such a good game. Hard to place him as I haven’t seen him show the aerial prowess required for a 3rd tall down back. Doesn’t quite have the size for a KPD. Good skills both sides, pace and height, could be a good fit on the wing in the firsts?
From what i saw, and I missed the first half I think Sier fumbled a lot and with the extra intensity at AFL level he just won’t get away with it.

Henry won’t be anything at AFL level either, it’s impossible to have an impact as a forward learning the ropes with the way we move the ball.

I didn’t have Wilson pegged as quick. I think he had a good game, but definitely didn’t set the world on fire. Might be one that benefits from having better players around him at AFL level though. I’d give him a crack, I like your idea of trying him on a wing.

Reef did some very nice things on ball, unlike Sier...he’s clean and one touch. Led Tackles I love that

Dib is going to be a player. Anticipates a moment amd is just quality.

Lynch was the stand out for me. Deserves a game if at all possible.

Brown will be a player, he just has the natural ability.

Most disappointing is that our game plan even at VFL level comes unstuck due to skill errors. We intentionally concede the inside 50 in order to load up behind the ball and transition quickly, problem is more often than not we turn it over by foot and it comes back even quicker. Fix that, which is part skill and part confidence, and we’ll be fine!

Sier had some real nice clearances, however he played on Brodie for ether most part. Brodie had it 40+ times. The hype on this board about this guy is totally unjustified. Delisting looms unless he changes his attitude.

Henry and Wilson were good. Reef played his best game for us so far. Picking up some fitness. Really liked his game.

Dib-San looks like he might have a few tricks.

Sier's frustrating. He's only involved in the play when it's a clearance situation and he's hunting the ball. He's very very good at it. He's completely lost on the outside, in transition or when he doesn't have the footy. Which is coaching, fitness or both. My bet is on both.

I am not often right but have consistently called for Sier to get senior games. I can only but agree with whoever in this thread surmised that Buckley was a big reason for his omission. I know which of the two I would prefer to be involved with the team. From the outside, Sier's treatment by Collingwood selectors is to say the least perplexing.

You and I are of like mind on this. We desperately need what Sier is really good at. Even with his quirks and flaws, his net impact on team success will be far greater than several constantly picked ahead of him.

Reef is showing improvement each week. As his fitness builds I think his involvement and confidence will too. His 20 disposals were clean, his 9 tackles led the team and kicking the winner is fantastic. Have we found a tall, big bodied, inside midfielder who kicks goals? Plenty of promise there.

Clearly we all have our pet favourites coz I thought Brown has very little influence on today’s game - much less so than Sier. Sier did fumble a few ground balls but he reads and roves ruck taps off the hand better and cleaner than anyone we’ve had in years. In the case of Brown, yes he shows some glimpses but gee slow, floaty kicks clearly seem to be a family trait.

Henry is looking promising and is an absolute handful in the air. I loved that he kept presenting at the ball carrier. We need that for transition so he was a big positive on a night where many were static.

I'm concerned he didn't threaten with his kicks from 50m. If he doesn't have the kicking depth he won't be dangerous outside 40-45m which makes him that much easier to defend as a medium marking forward.

If I were the development coaches i'd focus on improving that, but also his link up work and delivery inside 50 in case it doesn't improve. If he can assist as well as kick goals he's that much more dangerous.

When they first saw that he couldn't read the game and had no real idea what he was doing out there, they should have turned him into a back pocket and hoped he learned from there.

The most pleasing performance of the night for me was Wilson's. He looked a class above as the third tall. He intercepted in the air, he worked hard as an option in transition, but was surprisingly good by foot. I loved his composure and lateral movement in traffic. My only criticism is he needs to defend contested situations in the air better.

I want to see him stay back and I think it's a matter of time before he plays seniors. I personally think he has more to offer than Madgen, Murphy and Kelly.

The interesting thing on this thread is the Sier reaction. He has a half ok game against the Suns seconds and some on this thread are on the I told you so band wagon. Personally I’ve never seen it in him, he’s a long term tease on our list who at the top league never gets it done. “But he’s a big body mid” I hear you say, so????? He’s had his chance, trade for points at seasons end. I’ve never seen the positive that others have seen, he was so fumbly today and doesn’t really get into dangerous positions around the ground.

No Sier WAS where he belonged until that game, that game gets him knocking on the door.

We're all well aware that coaches can influence a player's impact on a game, no matter at what level. Last week Rantell is a forward and has very little impact. This week Sier has approx. 80% game time as a mid and is very good.

There were signs last week albeit he was a bit undersized at times playing as the second tall, which isn't going to be his go at senior level. Wasn't much between he and Madgen when they alternated between wing and third back during a preseason match sim.

Definitely agree that Browns impact was minimal, and at Siers level. What I see though is a player who’s instinct is to take the game on, he puts his head over the ball, he is evasive, good size and agility and his kicking might not have the shape of IQ’s is generally accurate. He does something wow almost every game, he just needs consistency.

With a list of 55 or whatever they have the Suns team was much more experienced and highly rated than the Pies
Was Sier on Will Brodie (41 possessions) all game? By the way Brodie a former top 10 pick would be gettable at a cheap trade price if we think we need another mid in the 22-25 age bracket

That is without question Henry,s best trait that he is a 1 grab specialist, I can see 3 or 4 these youngsters playing a decade for us, happy days indeed.

I thought his second goal was from around 50 and it sailed through.

Brodie had no influence on the game just amassed junk touches with no hurt factor
