Cycling can be funny at times - Haig will probably end up being 3rd on GC but was the 6th or 7th strongest rider - He got his position through a strong team, race circumstances and a touch of luck.

He had a strong team and rode away from Lopez and Bernal on the second last stage, whilst he and Yates have been basically toe for toe for the entire time.

Looking forward to next years Bahrain Victorious, wonder if they give Mader the Giro to attack as the protected rider after this performance, I think they should. It'll be a fascinating Grand Tour season next year with guys like Mader, Vingegaard, O'Connor, Vlasov, Hindley and so many others establishing themselves.
