Starting to warm to the idea of Adelaide going back to back.

They've lost Crouch and Hartigan, haven't added anyone of significant note, and according to the HS, Champion Data have rated their draw the 2nd hardest in the comp this year, which is bizarre and brutal (especially since they rated Port Adelaide's the easiest!).

They wouldn't want many significant injuries.
And now Milera's out for the year.

Us, North, and Crows all a strong chance with thin lists and either rookie or second-year coaches. Would think Clarko will have enough tricks up his sleeve to prevent Hawthorn from winning the spoon.

Practice match is a practice match
True but the only two things you don't want from a praccy match is to lose by 15+ goals or any major injuries

Saw Cunnington as well. A 90 point loss with just those 2 out is worrying for North. If they had 7-8 out then there is less to worry about
Goldstein, Cunnington, Dumont, Polec, Anderson and LDU, the entire first midfield with the exception of Simpkin. Saints had a few really good players out too, but not comparable when we were playing first year’s as our centre clearance mids.

Goldstein and Cunnington are very important. We also lacked chemistry since we turned over a quarter of our list, still have crabs on our list and have a new coach. There will be plenty of pain early season.

Fwiw, at least 8 of the Saints goals were from 50m penalties.

Clarko said hawks won’t be in the silverware this year, a development year. But from the experimentation going on, you’d think the North coaches think they are even further back.
Not necessarily the worst list, but the approach to the season speaks loud

After the last two weeks you would think North are a lock..I think we will be bottom 4 and we destroyed them today without Mitchell, Omera, Gunston, sicily, breust, Wingard & scrimshaw..that’s 7 of our best 22 and our top 6 players.

What have you done with Bradkli? Fwiw they had a few grunt players out too

They had some quality outs but it wasn’t just that...the season is less than 2 weeks away and their structure and game style looked horrendous...their skill level worse...they are in for a very long season...will struggle to win 3+ games imo...

I’m just glad Clarko has finally come to the realisation that our list is in terrible shape and he is willing to play the youngsters...finishing bottom 4 won’t be that bad this season...seeing growth in guys like brockman, kozi, Downie, Moore, jiath, day, Hanrahan will be exciting. Should have happened 2 years ago.

Just don't tell him when hes selected THREE rookie debuts in round one when hes selected roughly that in his entire 16 years with us - and Hartigan, Phillips. He might not notice

AND...Im starting to come to the side of counting the opportunity cost of Omeara, hopefully he can still prove us wrong. We also went after Shiel and Coniglio.. How would that have gone? still don't have the size you get with Phillips, Downie and Maginness

Suns a chance also despite having a lot of talent they are still very young
Suns will be closer to the 8 than the spoon, they are building well. I think North has the better kids coming through than Adelaide but Adelaides home ground advantage will get them a few wins clear of the Roos who will probably only win 2 games (crows and swans at home).

The counter-argument to that would be that we play 4 games in Hobart which we tend to play well at regardless of how we preform each season. But even if Adelaide gets the spoon, they'll have 5-6 wins which would be an improvement from 2020

Depends on what measure. Rowell averages more Brownlow votes, goals, tackles, contested possessions, and clearances per game than Walsh (from shorter game time).

Rowell played 3 games against teams who simply didnt want to play football. We have no idea how good he will be in an even mostly normal season.

Not for a few weeks anyway.

My guess is bookies make a killing off all the early money on him for RS and Brownlow votes.

Crows were one of only a couple of sides who got a run of games at home in 2020, and they were still terrible.
