My preference would be taking Mac Andrew and Jye Amiss if both are available. That being said I doubt both are available at our picks. So Id probably go something like this.

Pick 8 - Jye Amiss
Pick 10 - Matthew Johnson
Pick 19 - Tyler Sonsie, Goater or JVR

Hey guys, i'm representing the Dockers in a phantom draft on the Hawthorn board. Aside from my own team i'm most intrigued by what Freo do with their selections in this years draft. Could absolutely make or break your next decade and considering some of your talented youth and coach who I rate, I certainly hope it's the former.

Our phantom hasn't concluded yet, but those 3 early selections have been used.
I ended up trading 6 & 8 to GWS for 2 and 13. The prospect of Callaghan as a Cerra replacement certainly peaked my interest when playing list manager.
On draft night I still expect you guys to acquire Jye Amiss, however I missed out on him at pick 13 (15 after bids). Ended up selecting Zac Taylor who I believe has huge upside as a mid/forward. Also taking into consideration the decline of Walters and age of Fyfe and Mundy.
Pick 21 was used on Jacob Van Rooyen who I believe has been strongly linked to you guys too.

All the best for the real thing next Wednesday and Thursday!

I don't get the fascination with Andrew. We are getting one speculative pick in Benning we don't need another one. Erasmus is a no brainer at 6 and so is Amiss at 8. All needs covered.
If we are serious about balancing our attack we need a forward/ruck either this year or next. If the club thinks that guy is Andrew I am fine with that. I don't discount Benning as a prospect but you would need to be a real optimistic to think drafting him ticks that box.

My preference is any 2 of Erasmus, Johnson, Amiss and JVR with our first 3 picks, and a forward/ruck next year. And my ideal draft is Erasmus, Johnson, JVR.

The club is going to need to go VERY left field to leave me disappointed with this year's haul.

Ruck/Forward role is difficult to fill.

Andrew only averaging 2.7 marks per game against juniors concerns me.

As you said Benning is a project at that spot. Won’t cost us much.

In saying that, Hawthorn recruited Hale for that role and Collingwood went after Leigh Brown.

Both didn’t cost the world.

Amiss, Tracey and Bennings is good future planning and gives us depth in the short term.

If Meek can improve his forward craft, the Darcy/Meek compo would work.

I agree but if we don't draft Amiss, I'd like to see them pick Williams later.

I mean he could legit be another Luke Jackson though :O
We need one mid and one KPF with our first two picks and I would think that it is non-negotiable.

Why do we need one mid? Our current midfield situation with Cez leaving, Fyfe injured, Mundy and Walter's getting old would suggest we need another top 10 mid pick to help Bae and Serong. When you get a player with x-factor like Erasmus our midfield would be set.

Why do we need one KPF? Lobb is high risk of leaving. We also need to consider how our spine and depth is dangerously low and how scoring is a problem for our team. Creating depth in the forwardline and competition for spots will do wonders for our team.

Realistically we need at least 2 midfielder I feel!! If only we could get both Erasmus and Johnson. Means missing out on Amiss though :(

Looks like Shifter is off his meds, again.

Has Amiss “plays like” H McKay

Erasmus is like Petracca..

Woah slow down Shifter you will be done for DUI
To be fair to him, if those are the two players we end up drafting I'll be saying Amiss plays like Franklin and Gablett snr had a baby AND Erasmus plays like Judd and Fyfe combined. They're hacks if we don't draft them though.

I agree.

We need another two top midfielders and one top key forward but we have only 2 top picks.

More difficult to get top tall forwards than midfielders.

WA tall forward seems like a no brainer at pick 6(8).

I think we'll need to make a choice between Erasmus and Amiss at our first pick - Richmond will take who we don't. Whilst I think our need for a KF is higher, Id still prefer we take Erasmus who I think will be a champion.

My ideal draft would be

Trade (6)8 & (8)10 for (2)4 & (13)15
Unlikely but who knows!?

4 Callaghan

15 Amiss/NWM/JVR - best available in order

(19)21 Motlop or Jack Williams depending on pick 15 - Trade to get future 2nd & (26)28 from Richmond would be ideal

4th pick Tunstill/Serong/Dittmar - best available in order

Cat B - Benning AKA Bunnings

Best outcome
Callaghan
Amiss
Motlop
Tunstill
Bunnings
Future 2nd

Really agree on the FWD/Ruck type needed Benning could be that player as a late pick or go early on Andrew - massive risk though and I’m not sure this year is the year for a speculative pick like Andrew.
FWIW I really don’t see much in Meek, he comes across a lacking awareness and a really clunky mover.
Rather go Williams and Benning to replace his type. Toby Conway is a Geelong boy, thought he might be rated higher - looks quite athletic- need that contrast to Darcy.

Agree. If we need a forward / ruck, would much rather go with J Williams in the 20s than burn a top 10 on such a raw talent in Mac.
