Since player movement is more or less done, let's clear the decks and prepare for premiership #2!

And on a related note, whether/how far Adelaide will slide now that they can't pick the eyes out of a traditional footy state uncontested each year.

Our round 5 is slightly awkward- at 11am at Punt Road oval the morning of the Grand Final, with no other games that day? Surely a game anywhere else would be preferable there. Richmond station will be packed, and if we’re in the Grand Final turnout will be poor, and if we’re not in the Grand Final getting home in time to watch it would be a stretch. Strange fixturing.

I’m sure in previous years that the U17 exhibition game has been played at Punt Road on Grand Final morning.

When you only play half the teams the draw is going to be very uneven but it’s also an extremely uneven comp. Should’ve been a bigger final series to account for that.

Looking at the full fixture like that, it seems that they've prioritised games between good clubs as well - in a very short season that's very distorting. Last year's finalists are the top 6 in that hardest fixture table.

Some news on the AFLW
If you are a 2022 AFLW game access member, your existing membership will allow you entry to any Brisbane Lions home AND away matches for the upcoming AFLW Season 7, commencing in August, at no extra cost.
.........
The Brisbane Lions AFLW side will kick off their season against Fremantle at The Gabba on Sunday 28 August.
This will be the first of two games to take centre stage at The Gabba, with the Gold Coast Suns travelling up the highway two weeks later, on Saturday, 10 September.
Exciting news for our Victorian fans, we'll be travelling to Melbourne four times in Season Seven to face Melbourne, Richmond, North Melbourne, and expansion side Hawthorn for the first time.
We will take on reigning premiers, the Adelaide Crows, in a Round 8 Friday night blockbuster, at Metricon Stadium.
Brisbane's home grounds for Season Seven will be The Gabba, Burpengary and Metricon Stadium.
Brighton Homes Arena was scheduled to be ready for a November pre-season ahead of Season Seven which was originally set to be played late in 2022/start of 2023.
With Season Seven pushed forward to begin in August, we ramped up construction of our state-of-the-art training and administration centre.
Unfortunately, the unprecedented wet weather in Brisbane over the past six months hasn’t allowed us to accelerate laying the turf at Brighton Homes Arena.
We are endeavouring to have it ready to be played at during Season Seven finals.
We will keep Brisbane Lions members and fans updated – stay tuned to lions.com.au for further information.

Unfortunately having 2-3 on our list out with an ACL seems to be the norm
Female athletes are more likely to suffer ACL injuries, the full article is a very interesting read >

Are ACL Tears Really More Common in Women?

Anatomically, men and women are not created equal. The female pelvis is wider, which changes the mechanics of how the thigh bone, tibia, and femur function, says Dr. Gardner. This puts more stress on the soft tissues that support your joints, she explains.

This higher stress can lead to either a chronic (overuse) or acute (sudden) injury. According to research, an ACL tear is one acute injury that female athletes are two to eight times more likely to experience than males.

Yeah, there’s been a long running discussion about acl’s in women’s afl on the AFLW board.
