“Johnson discussed how Etherington was a good fit with Wagmi because of his “appetite for risk” that he rather crassly associated with the former Stoke winger’s historic gambling problems.”

Everyone's second team Wrexham knocking out a Championship team of the FA Cup is pretty cool

Ryan Reynolds and his annoying antics have ruined Wrexham for me (besides, never really liked any Welsh club tbh)
Only lower team club I actually like and want to see do well is AFC Wimbledon, alas the Wombles are not going so flash so far lately :(

Very sorry to read that, I hope your owner (who appears to be a bigger dickhead than our former owner Michael Knighton) can sell the club before it's too late.
The thing with Swann, our owner, is that he seemed reasonable. Sure, he liked a good sacking and was very pig-headed, especially when it came to criticism(banning local journos, picking fights with councils), but he never did dick-pics or anything outrageous. For a club that has only won 8 games in 88, the fans have been very lenient towards him really. Sure, there have been protests but I have seen fans do a lot worst for a lot less. In other words, Swanns has lied for years and has gotten away with it.

We way overspent to get into the championship. We/he gambled, and this is the core issue. He is a problem gambler(as posted above) and he has used the club as collateral. He has racked up big, big debts(both personally and with the club) and seems to be in major trouble financially because of it. Since 2018, the club has been up for sale, just so he could keep losing money to a bookmaker.

A club like Scunny only has one major asset, and that is the ground and the land. He used that land to write off 11 Mil of debt and sold it to his own company. Scunny, the club, owns nothing. We were all very worried when that happen, and rightly so as it turned out.

The worry is, and we have every right to be worried, that this land is his only way out. He will kill Scunny to save himself. Scunny, the club, is worth $1, and that has been basically agreed upon. It is the land/ground that is holding up the sale to local fans and businesses. The vultures are circling now, we have had Alan Hardy, the former Notts County Chairman, getting into contact with Swann.

If a sale doesn't happen, we are gone. We were late on player payments in November and that only happened when these local fans/buyers, gave the funding to the club. We got through December by selling our best player and having big home times against Notts and Cheltenham. We won't make it to next month. This winding-up issue is confirmation of something we all knew and that the bucket is dry.

Kieran Maguire, the price of a football podcaster has been on our case for a while now. Great fellow to follow to get updates on this. To tell a quick story, Kieran wrote an article in 2019 about clubs in big financial difficulty. We were one club listed. Swann, in response, gave out a press statement saying the club is in a good state, has no unstructured debt and has always paid on time. He also got the lawyers involved against Kieran behind the scenes.

Swanss biggest crimes are his gambling, mismanagement and being unable to take any criticism. Right now, he is gambling on our future, he seems resentful towards the fans and he can't see what his policies are doing to the club the town needs.

August 2019, my club Bolton Wanderers were in the same position. Liquidation Orders issued, player walk outs, unpaid staff, points deductions, three relegations, played our juniors in a League match, then copped more fines and points deduction for forfeiting a game due to a lack of players. We were five days away from collapse.
A local consortium saved the club. People with brains who cared about the club took over.
We’ve bounced back really well and are now pushing for promotion back to the Championship.
I hope your mob pulls through this. It saddens me to see traditional clubs in such turmoil. Best of luck.

I usually hate protests and on-pitch invasions.....but love this.

The game wasn't abandoned, no keepers were hurt but the appropriate point has been made. Victory/OSM, take notes

Scunnys press statement completely misses the point. How about thanking them for leaving or not being violent, not confronting the away fans, while also stating and stressing that this could further impact the club in negative ways if it continues?
A message from Chief Operating Officer Lee Turnbull...

We have listened to and heard the voices of our supporters. The frustrations of the takeover are shared by everyone connected to Scampaignerhorpe United.

Yesterday's pitch encroachment was totally unacceptable. Not only is it a criminal offence to go onto the pitch, but it visibly effected the team.

Michael Nelson, his staff and the players were thoroughly disappointed by the actions of those people that disrupted the game.

I believe also that the majority of our supporters yesterday were also dismayed by their own supporters attempting to and getting onto the pitch.

I’m all for freedom of speech and the backing you have given the players from the terrace and stands this season has been excellent, but yesterday was unacceptable. It was hugely disappointing and damaging to all of us who work for Scampaignerhorpe United.

No doubt there will be repercussions from the governing bodies which potentially could affect finances or even more severe, a points reduction. Equally, the police will also be knocking on a few doors of those pitch invaders which will probably result in arrests being made.

Let’s hope the actions of a few do not deter any of the interested parties involved in negotiations at this late stage.

Lee

Michael Nelson and the players, who had it very tough this last week and months, completely understood the fans' frustrations when asked about it after the match. After all, they are the ones who might not get paid next month

I have full respect for Michael the players for giving us last week's joy and giving it their all in several tough fixtures in trying times. No 7-0 or thumpings has been a nice change,.

Not only are the Irons in trouble with the HRMC, but fellow National League club Southend United are also in a fight to avoid their demise.

Southend United: Winding-up petition hearing adjourned again until March

Their on-field performances this season have been promising, they are currently sitting inside play-off spots in sixth. It will be sad if another club with a long history in the football league has to close it's doors.

They have 41 days left unless they find some funding.

Who knowns how long we have? We are in massive massive trouble. Our potential buyers pulled out last night. We need a last min white knight or Swann to not act the tool he is.

Enough is enough. Something has to be done to prevent owners from doing this. I am not over the Southend issue but geech, the FA are lucky we don't play each other again til April. That match would be cancelled as both fans would join together to get a msg governing bodies.

It's why an independent regulator is vital.

Carlisle United moved to within a point of the automatic promotion positions with a 3-1 win at home against Hartlepool. Probably should have been more, as a couple of attempts hit the post and the Hartlepool goalkeeper made a few great saves. It's our fourth win in five games.

Cumbrian striker Kristian Dennis scored twice to move to equal leading goalscorer in L2 with 16 goals.

Things are looking positive for Carlisle United heading into business end of the season. :)

Need a good back half of the year

Currently 6th (3 points out of the playoffs)

But there are 4 teams 3 points (or less) behind us with games in hand.

The 3pt deduction could really come and **** us in the arse (Something about fielding 6 loan players in a game, when the max is 5)
