It's the eye test.... Do I recognize that name
Best thing about the Nick Saben half time interview was him saying who would Vegas have as favorites like they didnt lose as 2 score favorites against both Tennessee and LSU.

The massive Bama homer Gary Danielson was trying hard in the commentary of our game against LSU to make a case for Alabama being in instead of TCU.
Imagine what Finebalm would be like tomorrow. if he even stops crying long enough to show up

It's funny to me how the combination of UFC, NBA, NBL etc has conspired to ruin our viewing experience this year... and then we get to bowl season and ESPN just go apeshit with them.

Because most of the bowls are not on Sundays. the Sundays that do have bowls other than NY6 are disrupted.

I appreciate I have no idea how these work.

Is there a simplified explanation for how all these teams qualify for the respective bowl's? And what order the bowl's are ranked in?
Not really most bowls no longer have position tie-ins. they can invite whoever they want from the conferences they are aligned with.

some people will say the only games worth watching are the playoffs/NY6, but they can eat a giant bag of dicks because they are wanna-be elites campaigners who only follow teams for the name and flip-flop. Sadly there are too many of those types who dont watch bowls till New Years.

Most of the bowls try and put together the best match-up they can.

Ahh thank you, so it's more invitational.

Is there more prestige to some than others? I've obviously heard of the Rose bowl before, but seemingly that's no more important than any others (outside of the playoffs).

Guess it makes it easier to just tune in as a neutral.

The Rose Bowl is about the only one that has any prestige left. the rest are sterile neutral site games that need the band and fans to make it feel alive.

Yeah its time to start taking back some of the votes.

Caleb Williams will win it but they should give the thing to Stequavious. When you compare stats in games against AP Top 25 teams, Stetson blows them all away. The only thing Caleb Williams beats him in is yards which Stetson would have beaten him in as well if we didn't run the ball so much.

I'll post this here in the current thread.
What dont you like about it?

This is what the 12 team playoff would of looked like if it was this season.

my only issue is that Tulane should be 5th as the best G5 champ.

The playoffs just make College Football just a free version of the NFL.

Why do we need 12 teams to prove who the National Champion is when it is already determined that Penn State, Tennessee and even Alabama don't deserve to be there.

That 12 team graphic sounds awful as I don't care about the 5th best team vs the 12th as they should not be entitled to be in the national title picture. I care about 1v4 and 2v3.

For the players - they don't want to play 17 games in a season when its essentially still free labour even with NIL.

For the fans - how many games do you expect them to go to without making these games soulless.

I can go on about this but it is and always will be - a money exercise.

The Rose Bowl just sold its soul by agreeing to being like any other bowl game in the playoff picture.

It used to be the best Pac10 team vs Big10 team but now its really just a free for all.

Sadly the Rose Bowl has no choice. it was given a deadline a few weeks ago of the end of Championship weekend to either join or be shut out of future TV deals and playoffs.

Hopefully the Rose Bowl can keep the Rose Bowl parade and the 5pm kick on Jan 1.

Because without expantion the same few teams are there every year and the same few teams will get all the recruits every year by pitching that they are the only school who gets the biggest TV exposure.

expanding the playoff pool will hopefully lead to a wider range of schools taking all the 5* recruits.
You can see these kids dont want to work hard, they want to win and play in the playoffs, look at the transfer portal.
More states and schools are working on getting things done to pay the players along with NIL deals.
The fans that will always be an issue, but the first round will be played on campus and feel like huge games still. the Quarter finals will hopefully breath life back into other bowl games by having eyeballs on CFB before New Years.
