Actually there is school tomorrow as tomorrow is the last day. Brisbane probably had around 7,000 at tonight’s game to Melbourne 30,000!

Full credit to Melbourne fans for turning up tonight especially on
A school and work night

Give us some credit here, there was probably about 7k Brissy fans there tonight.
There's still school tomorrow btw
For a smaller club, it was a great crowd on a thursday night, especially coming off a 3 game losing streak

It is school holidays my kids finished today. (edit) I guess some finish up today and some tomorrow.
Anyway, my post isn't about the dees it's about your troll posting surely you worked that out.
Why bring tigers into it, you think 9th v 12th port with no fans on a work and school night will be more interesting than 1st v 2nd.

We live in your head rent-free, Your every post has Richmond in it.

Good crowd, maybe the kids get in free helped. I really feel like it should be better advertised by the afl though, I have seen literally no adds on tv offering the deal. Actually afl advertising in general on tv has been pathetic this year. I reckon I see more nrl adds on ch9 in Melbourne than afl adds on 7 in Melbourne these days.

Bro, my apologies if it came across like that, admittingly my post had more to do with the trolling from gopies regarding Richmond than the dees crowd which I said was ok, or would you prefer I had said good which it was.

Lol I don’t care about Richmond. I just state facts which is why I was praising a smaller club for drawing a great crowd compared to a club that has 100,000 members and can only draw 21,000 v port on the Thursday night and 50,000 for a home game against one of the big 4 clubs in Carlton.

Facts are facts. Anyway well done to the Melbourne faithful

I'm sorry but that's not true. You can praise the dees, but in all honesty, you couldn't help yourself to have a dig at the same time and this post just confirms my suspicion as you have mentioned crowds V port, V blues, and 100k members. Look back on the last 5-10 pages most understand the complexity of Thurs night games. Let's be honest, If I praised the dees crowd but at the same time lobbed in an extra mention that it was better than the pies v eagles 25K or pies v GC 28K I would be trolling and deep down you know that's what you were doing and so I called you out for it.

38k is a great result, even if Brisbane did bring 8k supporters.

2019 Richmond played Brisbane late in the season and pulled 78K. Still one of the most impressive turn outs I can remember, but I’d swear there was 15-20K lions fans there.

They could be comparable to North and certainly Sydney in Victoria.

I was there brilliant day and a massive crowd. For the interstate sides, the lions have the 2nd most support in Vic behind Sydney (swans have about 12K members in Vic) and usually draw about 10K of their own supporters which is damn impressive.

Yep well done to all the fans who turned up!
The trouble is it will embolden the AFL to keep pushing the unwanted (except by the TV channels) Thursday night games in the middle of winter!

If the AFL must have Thursday night matches we a a very good 50,000 stadium that the AFL owns in Melbourne that even has a roof on it!

AFL Tables has the crowd as 3,893. Presume they got the crowd from Wikipedia before it was changed?

Shouldn't be this hard to define an exact crowd figure within reasonable time.

Good pick up. It's changed now, at least.

But you're absolutely right, most stadiums announce it in the fourth quarter. I get not doing that for poor crowds, but it isn't hard data to get. No quick number just gives room for misinformation.

Melbourne's home crowd average this year was 37,293 before tonight. Very comparable to what we saw in this game.

5th highest home crowds behind the so-called 'Big 4" Victorian clubs. I think it's been overstated that they've had poor crowds.
Should also be noted that this is our "off year" for home crowds - both ANZAC day eve (70,334) and Queens Birthday (76,069) were away games for us this year.

It's a shame that we don't alternate it each year (as in have one year with Anzac eve, and the other with Queens Birthday). Thought it wouldve happened as we played QB in Sydney last year

Hell no
over rounds 16-17 its school holidays in Vic, Qld and NT.
over rounds 17-18 its school holidays in NSW, WA and ACT
Over rounds 18-19 its school holidays in SA and Tas

So round 16 Thursday night could have been Vic (carlton v saints at marvel) - big game in context of the top 8, big tv audience and more chance of higher crowds
and round 17 Thursday night could have been NSW (sydney v bulldogs at scg) - big game, get sydney tv market
and round 18 Thursday night could have been WA (Freo v sydney at optus) - big game, again get syd market and WA
and round 19 Thursday night could have been SA (port v geelong at adelaide oval) - big game, get SA market

its not hard travis auld you muppet. he screwed over the suns in his time here, he is lauded as a replacement for gil but has no idea - grab a calendar you muppet
