I don't see how you could possibly say he would be top 5 even under those pretences.
With another years development maybe he drops down to 15-20.
There's a reason he isn't considered top ten, otherwise his age and projection would have clubs rating in this year's top 5.
It’s the exact reason he’s undervalued in this years draft ( by media abs draft watchers ) and I won’t be surprised if a club like Essendon or hawks take him very early and it’s way before what media and draft watchers think

I can only go on the phantom drafts.
If he does go top 6 than fair enough, but it doesn't look like it currently

Ok, but there would a reason Barnett is considered worthy of going in the top 30 and not the other two?
Don’t reckon the gap between Barnett and Verall is that much other than endurance

Verall after being injured and losing fitness came in and had pretty similar stats to Barnett and prob did it in more style with his leap at centre bounce etc

Barnett has it over in him in height by nearly 3cm and endurance and maybe versatility

Verall has it over Barnett in speed , vertical leap , genuine ruck craft

Knobel will take longer, doesn’t have the same developed skill set but is 206cm and growing and can see him being a decent AFL ruck but not for 5 years

can HH actually defend or just good at playing loose and getting cheapies in backline? I not seen enough of his games live to know

Id like to have seen EH given a go back this year. he has the height - again whether he can defend I dont know. i suspect he would get involved in play more than murray. what I do know is hes not getting a game up forward or as 1st ruck. so unless hes been kept just to lure harrison he must go back.
He is a backup key forward. He's first in whenever there's injury, which will definitely happen. He's fine as cheap depth.

It is interesting looking at the power ranking in the herald sun (found on another thread o the board) in October two of them had Mattaes Philipou ranked at 8 and one had him at 11. Versus Chris aka Knightmare had him ranked at 2. With our 1st pick at 23 he is going to Victoria.

I'd ignore Knightmare, unless you think we should be drafting Corey Voss.

11 is also where Twomey has him. I think he goes between 10 and 16 - and it's not impossible to get there with 23 and a 2nd.

IMO Verrall has as much talent as Barnett and is even better than Barnett athletically, the only question with Verrall is his endurance. His lack of doing a decent pre-season and missing early season matches managing osteo pubis and several flare ups early on after resuming probably fed into that. Would likely have played all 4 Nationals sharing ruck duties with Barnett if his fitness was up to it. Played the last Nationals game with managed minutes in the ruck whilst slotting 2 goals playing up forward. On resumption after the Nationals Verrall absolutely dominated the SANFL U18 competition. His follow up work after the ball hits the deck is supreme for a ruckman.

His last 2 games against Centrals and WWT his stats were :

CD 21 Disposals 14K 7Hb 7M (2CM) 36HO 9 Clearances

WWT 23 Disposals 16K 7Hb 3M (2CM) 43HO 7 Clearances

Huge call but won’t surprise me either

Plenty of guys with less upside rated in top 5-10 by media
I doubt there's even one with the potential upside of Phillipou given the age difference, Sheezel the only one close with a 13 Oct birthday...McKenzie very close to 12 months older.

Ill go out in a limb and say that he'll end up the best of this draft.
On what basis. Is that in large part due to his dob?

I don't think there is a huge amount of doubt given his upside he will be a good-in...

But the odds are there is better than him in this draft. So it is unlikely your call will prove accurate.
Lets revisit in 5 years.

Like I've said seems like a huge risk given we could get a 22-23 year old midfielder in who's borderline A grade in.
Who?

Give us some names of midfielders that you think we could entice to play and live Adelaide?

Missed any that fall in your age demographic?

Sam Walsh? out of contract 2026
Bailey Smith? out of contract 2024
Caleb Serong? out of contract 2023
Noah Anderson? out of contract 2023
Luke Davies-Unakie? out of contract 2023
Tom Green? out of contract 2023
Connor Rozee? out of contract 2024
Chad Warner? out of contract 2025
Shai Bolton? out of contract 2023

I think the player we are most likely to chase if he remains uncontracted is Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera personally?

Size, skill, athleticism, absolute hunger to learn, huge work ethic and a dose of fierce competitiveness. His late year birthday is just the icing.

Add to those traits what i saw in one quarter of footy before he hurt himself and I was sold.

Crows could I guess trade a future to move up or build a good relationship and tempt him back one day.

Anderson and Bolton. Their current clubs likely couldn't match a huge contract offer.

Anderson to Adelaide would be a massive acheivement but I can't see it especially if Rowell recommits..

WCE would have plenty of cap space for Bolton?

Tom Green would be the one for me now Richmond have filled their spots with Taranto and Hopper.
