Sure, have read about next years draft and who knows what pick we may have and could be a great player available to us. Guess what I was floating is after a total rebuild at what point is it getting too late to go to the draft for your No 1 elite
mid ( arguably your most important player )and you really need to trade one in.
Thing is, pick 5 would have been a good chance to pick Pou if we wanted him - people are saying GWS will go for Cadman, then there's Sheezel/Tsatas/Wardlaw likely going to North & Bumbers (esp. with the recent couple of SA go-homes spooking things up).

Next year's draft is meant to be deep but a good chance our pick is 10 or later - still missing the top players. Either we couldn't get GC to accept our F1 for Izak, or we don't rate Pou high enough to try forcing the issue.

AFC trading in an elite mid (non-SA originating)?

Dowling flying under the radar a bit? Rowie said last week we've got our eye on a North player, likely Keeler, but maybe we're keen on Dowling.

Not sure we are into Keeler so it could be Dowling … there’s also a mature age north player with speed that attended SA combine ( forget his name )

And agree Dowlings under the radar , wish he was a better kick but everything else is pretty good

I'm all in for bringing forward the rebuild, why wait another year? Trade our F1 if it gets an elite player in the door this year.

Melbourne did this several times using future picks to get a player now, got them a flag, be bold I say.

Its probably been discussed already but did anyone else see the highlights of Harry Lemmey playing CHB against North's U18's side?

I was surprised at how good and comfortable he looked back there. Was mobile, had neat skills, intercepted, ran hard and was aggressive in tackles and smothers. And then swung forward to have an impact inside F50 late in the 2nd half. Ticked a lot of boxes as a 199cm swingman for me.

If he really has fallen completely off everyone's draft boards I wouldn't be against bringing him in to be a developmental swingman

Our draft will come from this group. Suspect Ryan is right in the frame for our first pick

Based on the combine though (and his form) I would trade up to get Phillipou

Why on earth would we draft another medium defender/wingman?

Brodie Smith, Tom Doedee, Will Hammill, Lachlan Sholl, Mitch Hinge, Wayne Milera, Andrew NcPherson, Patty Parnell, Chayce Jones not enough coverage?

We need mids though at #23 you're drafting more on potential/projection and a tall KPP/Ruck type

I have no probs with this in theory but none of the top 8 teams pick wise would give up their first this year you'd think maybe even more than that. It is possible Melbourne bite but they have pick 13. Realistically I think our F1 is worth a lot more than pick 13 but what teams with the first dozen picks would want to give it up. I can't see anyone with the top 8 picks giving it up. Maybe the cats can give up pick 7 for our F2 t sweeten up the lop sided Danger deal. :p

Ultimate AFL Draft guide: Your club’s list needs, latest intel and who they could take

What does your club’s list need? And, more importantly, who could be available to fill them in this year’s draft? We run the rule over every team.

ADELAIDE

Draft picks: 23, 46

List needs: Midfield class and height, key defender, young ruckman

Who could be available at first pick: Max Michalanney, Harry Barnett, Ed Allan, Isaac Keeler, Lewis Hayes, Henry Hustwaite, Coby Burgiel

Who’s in the mix after that: Jaiden Magor, Jaxon Binns, Adam D’Aloia, Kyle Marshall

After Adelaide gave up pick 5 in a trade to land Gold Coast’s Izak Rankine, the Crows won’t enter the draft until the second night, when they will be hoping to pick a player before a bid comes for father-son prospect and Norwood defender Max Michalanney, who sits right in the second-round mix. The best ruckman in the draft, Harry Barnett, is another homegrown talent, whose profile fits the developing Crows’ list. But will he still be available? It still looks unlikely Isaac Keeler, a Crows Next Generation Academy prospect and forward/ruck, will fall to pick 40, where Adelaide gets access to him. WA bolter Ed Allan has the size and speed the Crows’ crave in the midfield.

Latest word: The Crows have shown significant interest in Barnett, but some clubs believe the big man could be off the board by pick 23. Would they trade up?

PORT ADELAIDE

Draft picks: 33, 60

List needs: Quality midfielder, key defender, forwards

Who could be available at first pick: Jaxon Binns, Jacob Konstanty, Jaiden Magor, Coby Burgiel, Isaac Keeler, Ed Allan, Brayden George

Who’s in the mix after that: Baynen Lowe, Kaleb Smith, Harry Lemmey, Kyle Marshall, Ethan Phillips

It was a huge trade period for the Power, who addressed two pressing needs in explosive midfield young gun Jason Horne-Francis and goalkicking small-forward Junior Rioli. Like its SA rival, Port Adelaide – as it stands – won’t take part in the first night of the draft but the class and speed of Jaxon Binns and Coby Burgiel would suit the Power on the outside in the second round, as would the goalkicking feats of Jacob Konstanty. And could they be the club to jump at Isaac Keeler before the Crows get access in the 30s? Fellow SA talls Harry Lemmey, athletic defender Kyle Marshall and ruckman Will Verrell have developed right under Port’s noses, too.

Latest word: The aggressive Power were one of the winners of trade period – but its draft hand took a significant hit, this year and next. And they might just miss out on one of the more highly-rated talls at 33, after they failed to get Esava Ratugolea to Alberton.

Reckon it might be Shaun Bennier KPP Swingman though we'd be looking more to use him in defence I'd think.

Mature ager Frank Szekely is another small forward, can play up the ground a bit at SANFL level but surely AFL clubs would only be looking at him in a small forward role? Can't really see it when we just delisted Rowe, admittedly Szekeky would offer more in the pressure department.

I haven't forgotten about him since his pretty good performances as a bottom ager in last years u18's. Dunno what happened to him this season but he had something there last year for sure. I'd say he'd get drafted somewhere this year, even if only rookie, surely clubs can't let someone like that go undrafted (unless they have some serious intel that tells them not too - like physical issue / debilitating condition or some bad mental aspect).

Moreso his games for West Adelaide's League team as a 17 year old is what brought him into focus largely.

Could Jakob Ryan's game translate to the midfield though? He's a decent size height wise and still needs to fill out obviously. His haircut, at least, suggests he could get down and dirty in the midfield in the future.

The closest he'd come to being a midfielder IMO would be on the wing, if we're talking current medium defenders in this draft that look to have tools to transition into the midfield Tassie Devil Lachlan Cowan would be the player I'd have top of that list.

imagine that..we take him, he develops and just when he is starting to hit his straps..boom, along comes the Tassie Franchise and off he goes

TBH, I'd be very gun shy on Tassie kids in the near future with what is coming

Wouldn't be surprised if one of the nice looking SA talls falls to the preseason draft then gets taken before pick 5.
South Adelaide's 198cm KPD/Ruck Kyle Marshall wouldn't have done his chances any harm with his State Combine showing on the weekend, not too many talls in this draft tested anywhere near as well athletically.
