I'm a Verrall man personally.....Barnett will go fairly early, possibly before our 2nd whereas Verrall with his compromised preseason due to groin issues didn't really get up to full rat power until late in the season and therefore only played the last Nationals game where he had limited exposure. After that he absolutely dominated the local rucks with his leap and follow up work. Not keen on taking Rucks that early unless they're absolutely dominant against their peers at the Nationals, Barnett was good but not dominant.

Knobel playing in today's game another worth a look later in the draft/rookie draft.

so how would you order your preference from Verrall, Barnett and Keeler?

Keeler has 'potential' but seems very inconsistent, thoughts?

Keeler I don't see as anymore than a chop out ruck, he's best suited as a Forward IMO.

Barnett could very well go 1st round so Verrall later or even perhaps as a rookie would be the way I'd go.

If we end up with two picks in the early 20s, I don't hate the idea of Kobe Ryan and whatever ruck we think is best at 25.

I don't think there were any stands outs from this game at our pick unless we're looking at a tall in Cadman (likely gone anyway) who is really impressive.

Sheezle I'm not sold on the hype. He does look quality but I haven't seen him dominate (outside of nab league) even in patches. Not really sure on his ultimate position either.

McKenzie didn't look to be favoured as a mid? Not sure where he was playing but probably suffered from lack of opportunity. Seems to make good decisions and has good skills, which I like. Some other areas of his game I haven't seen enough of to say whether I'd like him at 5 (accumulation, tackling etc).

Humphrey certainly has something about him. Has power and size. Kicking worries me though and is he going to be a forward?

Clark not his best game. Not overly clean or damaging.

Tsatas hasn't impressed me any any game I've watched. Hasn't used pace, size, kicking etc.

Hollands doesn't play like his brother, who has many elite traits. Pretty nice kick but I haven't seen anything else that puts him at the pointy end. More like 10+

It was probably one of those games that showed up a few of the lesser likes:

Konstanty would be a good pick up for those looking at a crafty forward.

MacDonald is interesting. Takes the game on and has great pace.

Hayes looks really solid. Neat disposal as well. He'd be a good pick up for someone looking for a KPD.

Mcmullin I really liked. Natural footballer. Similar with Binns and Burgiel. Could see them getting drafted and being neat players.

Gruzewski has a bit of Georgiades about him.

I think there were quite a few draftable players out there. Finding another Soligo would be nice :)

Reid does look like a serious player for next year and would be in the number 1 discussion this year. Looks like he could genuinely dominate anywhere on the ground.

Been on a flight during the game, any other prospects really impressed?
McKercher my best but plenty of standouts.

Those Northern Academies are gonna get plenty of free hits next year. Cleary outstanding.

McKercher's not aligned to anyone, right? Rate him super highly, with that speed/class/accumulation combo
If Tasmania get a team I imagine him coming back, but whoever takes him in the mean time will be compensated.

AFL Draft 2023: 10 top prospects to watch, why clubs are excited

An ‘unbelievable’ group of prospects next year is set to have a say on this year’s trade period. Find out the top 10 to watch ahead of the 2023 AFL draft.

While there is seen to be some depth in this year’s draft pool, the top-end talent is not considered to be as strong as other years and there are a lack of quality key-position players on offer.

Brisbane father-son prospect Will Ashcroft is a clear standout in this year’s draft, after winning the Larke Medal as the best and fairest player in the under 18 national championships last week.

However, fellow No. 1 pick contender George Wardlaw has barely been sighted since May due to multiple hamstring injury injuries.

Dynamic midfielder Elijah Tsatas played his first match of the national championships for Vic Metro only last week after missing a large part of the season with a fractured foot, while livewire small forward Harry Sheezel and agile key forward Aaron Cadman are considered the other top-five contenders.

Clubs are more buoyant about the top-end talent in the 2023 draft though, which includes Harley Reid, Nick Watson and Ashton Moir.

Reid has shown he can be a weapon in multiple positions this year, while Watson and Moir are crafty goalkicking forwards with serious X-Factor.

“Reid, Watson and Moir are unbelievable,” another veteran recruiter said.

That trio all missed last Saturday’s Under-17 All-Stars game – with Reid and Watson having played in the final under-18 national championships match two days earlier – but recruiters left the MCG with high excitement levels about many other prospects in next year’s draft pool.

Western Australia’s Daniel Curtin was named best afield for his work across halfback, but the 195cm tall has also shown he can play as a key forward this year.

Other top prospects for next year’s draft include Tasmanian pair Colby McKercher (who has been likened to Essendon’s Zach Merrett) and Ryley Sanders, along with Zane Duursma (the brother of Port Adelaide’s Xavier) and Archer Reid (the brother of Essendon’s Zach).

Will Lorenz – a midfielder-forward who is the grandson of Hawthorn great Graham Arthur – also caught the eye.

Watson is zero chance of top 10 he be lucky to be first round unless he grows 10cm in 12 months

Pretty obvious you haven't watched a lot of his footy, his kind of smarts around goal are priceless, he's 16 years old, hard as a cat's head and already has the pressure side to his game that is rare at his age...he's a jet.

I agree he is a jet. I spoke with a few senior recruiters at two different times and both said won’t go top 10. I’d like to see him play more midfield next year.

Lets revisit this draft day next year. I've seen him too - he is not even close to moir or reid - recruiters will definitely be put off by his size. but yes he looks skilled.
