You think Gold Coast wouldn’t have preferred our F1 over 5 in this shitty, excremental draft????

😆
This year's top picks definitely seem to have less value than other years (look at how easily WCE gave up pick 2)

I honestly don't mind this draft myself based on what I've seen, but I'm only a spectator

A year ago I would have bet London to a brick we were positioning to draft Phillipou, it just made sense to me.
Can’t remember if it was Silvers or Reid’s comments eluding to trading and free agents moving forward, but feel now this is the way we may go to fill the deficiency of a dominant big ( insert E Hollands ) mid over the next couple of years.
Keeler going 40+ seems like a pipe dream but a sliding Barnett as others have mentioned would be ideal to go with Max for this year now imo.

Unrelated but not sure if anyone caught Rowey’s meltdown on 5AA last night , totally lost it calling Reid a “Dud” and “should
be sacked” our list management “a joke amongst AFL circles” and went on to “wasted draft picks” then mentioning McAsey, McHenry and Jones.

Guessing Jimmy may have not had any interest so Rowey going all in.

Good and he’s being going hard for awhile now

Wow did Rowe really say that? I’ll have to try and have a listen

yep i thought the same on rowey but to be honest its a bit too personal as those top picks have nothing to do with jimmy delisting

How are we getting terrible value for our future first pick?

We'd be getting pick 10 for a future top 10 pick which I actually project to be about pick 10 in 2023.

But regardless of those future unknown players, in the future draft that's always better.... we'd be getting a bottom age tall SA midfielder who looks pretty damn good, and could be exactly what we need. We'd potentially be getting a top 5 player in this draft that has fallen due to interstate clubs not wanting to draft him.
It's bad value because a possible top five pick next year should MINIMUM get us a top five pick this year.

And if we in any way rated him, we could have traded the future 1st and kept our pick and drafted him.

No he doesn’t. He now has a different opinion since his son got booted. Before that he was a big advocate for guys like McHenry.
With McHenry he has defended his place in the team because he says he plays that role better than anyone on our list, that in itself says something about the state of our list.

He has criticised our drafting, list management and has called change all year. He went off when we overlooked Charmichael.

Surely you’re not disagreeing with him?

I thought our draft hand was done?

MM + upgrades.

Next year’s pick should be saved for trades!

I’d much rather we went to Free Agents and trading in exposed talent with high picks.

We seem to have done really well with our outside 1st round picks recently, nabbing the likes of Berry - Soligo - Worrell - Parnell - Gollant - Butts - Shoenberg.

Compare that to the first rounders on the list in 2023 (I’ve probably forgotten someone!):

2 Thilthorpe
3 Rankine
6 McAsey, Rachele
9 Jones
11 Milera, Pedlar
12 Fogarty
14 Smith, Hately
16 McHenry
17 Doedee
25 Cook

I mean some of that top end talent is going to be the pointy end of our next push, the difference makers … I’d still argue that the non-first rounders are the meat on the bone.

I recently re-watched the first 3 games of the season.

It reminded me of a few things.

McHenry is a whole lot more than people on here think.
Thilthorpe is going to be something else.
Rachele is absurd, how I ever thought of uttering his name in any pie in the sky JHF trade scenario is beyond me.
Jones is still improving.
I feel like Shoenberg is going to be a player once his body develops, he moves and acts like a more powerful unit than is right now.
Himmelberg still has potential, i hope he reaches it.
Laird is a very good footballer.
Dawson is the most influential player on our team, outside of Tex :)

Happy to sit out this year, Pick up MM … bring in some more talent via trade at the end of 2023 - have a proper crack at it from 2024 onwards.

And he would be right and its a crying shame rowe is out and mchenry stays. I'd have j rowe 100 times out of 100 ahead of mchenry. Rowe has his limitations but is a natural footballer. Mchenry is a headless chicken that runs all day

Got a hot tip from a very reliable source that we have a trade worked out with another club, which is quite aggressive and may land us a big draft fish.
So have I but it will depend if we can find a buyer at fair value, no mention of a deal being already nutted out though.....2 SA players involved as well as Michalanney who is a lock apparently....only one of the two though due to list space, 1st player can't be had, move on to the 2nd.
