I completely disagree, but just going with it... Wouldn't that be a perfect player for us? I'd give my left nut for a Fritsch equivalent up forward in our current mix.A forward 1st, but never a fulltime mid
Think Fritsch

To me he reminds me of a mix between Cripps and Bont. He doesn't have the leg speed of Bont nor the sidestep but he's a kick first version of Cripps who uses his body well, will fill out to be a huge body who can still kick it 55-60m and push forward for a goal. He averages 28 and 1.5 goals a game in the SANFL
I'd be okay bringing him in as he's got enormous upside (possibly the most in the draft) but I don't think he's got the ability to improve our list next season as much as others do. If we did find ourselves in a position to select him I'd really only be happy to do so if we were prepared to shift picks to pick up a Hollands or Kobe Ryan type who would give us that outside run and carry we need.
Just as a reference of the style of game he plays
The only way this works for mine is if Swans want Jefferson and we don’t. There only area of concern appears to be generation next for key forwards. They have McDonald and the solid workhorses McLean and Amartey along with ruck/forward Ladhams to follow on from Buddy and Reid, so may well be attractive if he gets to our pick.Carlton 10+28 - draft points 2072
Sydney 14+17 - draft points 2186 (or 14+18 = 2146)
Reasonable deal if both clubs were interested in it.
If...
Then...
- Ashcroft goes early as expected [all picks shuffle down 1]
- Davey Jr goes after *'s 2nd rd pick, but before Carlton's 28 [2nd rd picks shuffle down 1]
- Fletcher goes somewhere between Sydney's 17/18 and Carlton's 28 [2nd rd picks shuffle down 1 more]
- Brisbane don't trade out pick 15 (and it gets used up by matching Ashcroft) [picks shuffle up 1]
Carlton 11+30 = 2024 (adding pick 62 would take points up to 2147)
Sydney 15+17 (or 18 if they win) = 2137 (2097)
Take it with a grain of salt till we see all the pick trades!
Thought this behind the scenes draft night was really interesting...
Although it's not Carlton they do discuss Jack Carroll, he was pretty close to not making it to us...

Just gimmie the next chad warner please, kid is an absolute bloody jet.
Arr0w how would you rate Hotton, Clark, Hollands and Mckenzie and which do you believe the best fit for us would be?
Clark looks a bit of a Max Holmes clone just with a bit more natural talent
Mckenzie a lot of class by foot and runs hard
Hollands the hard running wingman
Hotton the xfactor small fwd/mid who lacks consistency but has high impact when he's "on"
Will be down at the Country v Metro game this Thursday so should get a good look at all 4.
We could definitely do with a player with these qualities.Hotton firming as a top 10 pick. Dangerous HFF, great burst, leap and penetrating kick
You'll get to see him live Thursday on foxWe could definitely do with a player with these qualities.
From the phantom drafts I've seen he's more likely to be around that 20-30 mark. Might not make it to our pick but he looks like a likely typeCowan has the right attitude, driven robust at the ball, basically a good footballer.
Perhaps a little early at p10.
I’d prefer to snap up Keeler if still available.
If we could upgrade our p28 , Cowan would be a serious consideration.
He is the exact type I'm sure the club were hoping Dow could be - his burst out of stoppages in the 2nd half were mesmerizing.Just gimmie the next chad warner please, kid is an absolute bloody jet.
ya, noticed the September phantom drafts have re-calibrated and rate Cowan higher, it would be interesting to see if we could upgrade our p 28 to early 20s, perhaps add a surplus midfielder to 28?From the phantom drafts I've seen he's more likely to be around that 20-30 mark. Why is the go-home factor more of an issue for Cowan than any other interstate player?I think clubs will be wary of picking up Cowan, given the go-home factor. And any compensation will be diluted by compromised drafts if/when the Tassie team goes ahead.
Frankly if he came in and helped win us a flag playing Wing I wouldn't care one bit if he walked to Tassie a few years later for free. I'd still clap him everytime he got the ball for getting us 17 before those scumbags at windy hillI think clubs will be wary of picking up Cowan, given the go-home factor. Chance to be an inaugural player at state club? Don't you think there'd be considerable AFL pressure/assistance?Why is the go-home factor more of an issue for Cowan than any other interstate player?
Even if Tasmania gets a license I dare say their entry into the league is still a couple of years away - they'll probably come in via the reserves competition as GC and GWS did. Be a very brave 18 year old kid - and a very stupid manager - to compromise his career because Tasmania are coming in a few years.
