Kinnear Beatson pipped him tonight, but if a Davey bid comes after our next pick and Munkara slips to beyond 40 then he might finish second

You should get both boys. Weirdly us wiping GWS out helps as it’s one less pick GWS have to bid on Davey and they are one club that needs a Small forward and you’d assume they trade the first pick tomorrow

Didn’t take Sydney and Footscray long to return serve to Adelaide and Brisbane respectively.
What goes around comes around …

Ah yes, the consequences to Brisbane of the Bulldogs bidding on Fletcher were...

Absolutely nothing... literally zero.

Come now, that’s not true.

We would have been able to pass on our next pick 15 minutes before actually passing tomorrow night.

They got us.

I've heard we've already emailed the "pass" in, and the recruiting team will be spending draft night 2 at The Standard Hotel.

Don't think Adelaide or Brisbane were overly fussed about the bids being a bit earlier than expected, both were able to match without going into debt for next year.

GWS clearly the ones that were unhappy. The footage of their box after the bid was priceless.

Almost as if they were like "But we were nice and didn't bid, why are Syd now ruining our draft night... Why can't everyone just be friends..." *Storms off into their room and turns the music right up.

Salty offended dogs got in first trying to make us pony up for Dunkl..oops, Fletch. Made no difference though
Surely the bid was all about optics for its support base that are absolutely clueless that the bid had ZERO affect on the Lions, but it helps them sleep at night.

Whilst completely inconsequential, for those with half brain, the bid is actually quite laughable and the narrative that the media and Dogs fans are peddling that we were made to pay, when we don't even have any available list spots is just moronic.

It doesnt make much difference but none at all is not correct

If the bid came later then you still have a pick that could be traded to the future for a 3rd or 4th ect

So it does make a little difference, albeit minor

How so to Brisbane?

Clueless champ.

1. We have no more list spaces 2. We weren't using any more picks this draft 3. We had more than enough draft points to not go into deficit next year 4. we didn't lose any thing, I repeat, we did not lose a thing with the Dogs bidding on Fletch.

That's not to mention we recruited one of their best player in the trade period and finally, they are basically saying to Busslinger they would have preferred someone else.

Geez, the Dogs really returned serve to the Lions.

Dogs returned serve but sadly for them it went into the net :moustache:

Let this be a lesson to you all. Poach one of the Bulldogs stars and you'll be forced into taking a highly touted kid in exchange for a couple of garbage picks. Tremble in fear!
Or maybe .. just maybe .. we need wingmen so it made sense.

Couldn't be that logical, right?

Then again, Adelaide know how to draft:

A bit disappointing in this day and age that the media sites don't specify which future picks are being traded and fans have to wait until after the draft to find out.

TRADES COMPLETED DURING 2022 AFL DRAFT

1. Brisbane gets 41, 50, 52 and 63 - Hawthorn gets 36 and future Round 3

2. Brisbane gets 40 - North Melbourne gets 63 and future Round 3

3. Hawthorn gets 18 - Sydney gets 27, future Round 2 and future Round 3

For trade 3, I reckon the Hawks would have traded F2 from WBD and the F3 they received from Brisbane which could have been Melbourne's or Brisbane's or WBDs. The Hawks are likely to have kept all their natural future picks.

To trade out of the whole draft, and pick a bunch of kids late.

What you're suggesting was more than likely not possible, and actually stupid for GWS to do.

What GWS should have done was let Sydney have the kid, rather than matching.

The only reason GWS would be annoyed was if they wanted to bid for another earlier on used from the matching.

GWS could have traded up earlier. Swans may not have been happy with the price GWS offered or they wanted their guy anyway. GWS may have been able to trade in front of Swans with foresight. Tricky situation for GWS when Swans just before and both want the same players.

If they did not want some else around this mark they would have traded back presumably
