List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft

If you're looking at someone who plays kinda like the Bont, Henry Hustwaite I think is the guy. Ridiculously balanced athlete, a tall midfielder who moves well in traffic and has neat skills. Of course, there's only one Bont though so he could end up a Riley Collier-Dawkins instead.

I like Hustwaite a lot though and I think he'll be a player.

I see Henry Hustwaite as a taller Whitfield. I do question his contested ball winning ability at AFL level. I think he'd be a winger at AFL

Reminds me a shit ton of 21 and under Bont before he improved underneath his knees imo

Noticed Chris25 pumping up Jaiden Magor.
185 cms 80 kg. Forward mid but just hanging around the forward line the past 2 weeks recovering from a ankle injury (3 month injury?) 11 goals in 2 weeks.

There's a reason I want us to get a few 2nd and 3rd round picks this year if possible and I'm willing to trade the likes of Hayes, DBJ, Bonner, possibly Drew etc to get some in.

Magor is one of them but this draft seems to be pretty even after the top 10 and could have sliders and gems. James Van Es, Magor, D'Aloia, Will Verrall, Kobe Ryan, Darcy Jones and Dowling are some of the names.

If Brayden George has done his ACL, he might be slipping into that bracket too. Won't play in 2023 but could be a steal for the future.

I’m really keen on magor with a late late draft pick or rookie.

I’m not sure if he makes it, high bust potential, but he is a decent size, really knows how to find the goals and we desperately need forwards.

I have big questions over his body, his ability to stay on the park and his fitness.

I would be very very keen to see his testing cause I worry about guys with injury histories like him becoming plodders.

I haven't seen the current Phillipou play, but assuming he is descended from the West Torrens (Peter) and WWT (Sam) family, he will probably need to be a fair bit better than either of them to be genuine AFL quality.

Peter was a reasonably good on baller type in a better era of the sanfl but was a level below the real good players of the day ( he was right up there in the sniping caper though :moustache:), and if Sam couldn't mark the ball he struggled to have much, if any impact at all, plus he couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

I don’t know phillipous testing but he’s an exceptional athlete. Very quick. Has gliding across the top of the ground speed. Accelerates away from people but makes it look effortless.

If we draft phillipou, he should play immediately as a medium forward where he would be a strong marking threat. Solves the need for forwards immediately.

Theres a couple of comments on the draft boards indicating Brayden George has likely done his acl.
Yup it didn't look very good when I saw the vision. Wonder if he slides down a fair bit down the order now. Someone who takes a punt on him could have huge upside

Is there any small forwards late draft possibilities worth taking a punt on?

Beau Tedcastle

177cm

78kgs

I’d Like a serious look at.

He’s a very back end pick but does kick goals and has a really solid defensive side to his game along with your stereotypical indigenous foot skills to go with it.

He’s made the state combine so there’s a little interest in him and if he tests well?

Jeez didn’t realise we don’t even have our own third rounder this year and hold the Swans instead, was that also a part of the Ladhams trade a swap of future thirds?

What a horrible hand we hold with so many holes to fill.
We gave ours for Finlayson. Got Swans' for Ladhams and swap of first rounders last year

Talking of Torrens, I reckon the Pavlich from the recent era was a fair bit better than the 70s version 😉

This draft is strong for kfs and genuine mids,

And weak for flankers , small / medium forwards , small / medium defenders.

It would be silly to ignore the strengths of this draft and go after it’s weakest depth areas with early picks.

I’ll be pretty pissed if we overlook a promising tall, or a genuine mid to go a sub 180cm flanker / small at anything before our 3rd round picks.

Maybe Konstanty makes it, but his type are dime a dozen in every draft, and are available at all points through the draft. **** wasting the gift horse that is Amon going so we fix the ****up of trading out our 2nd rounder and actually have a pick in a range there will be players we don’t often get access to.

If we can trade one or draft a small forward with potential without using a lot of draft capital great but worse come to worse I wonder if it is something that can wait until next year. With Finlayson and particularly Marshall both very skilled and athletic I would be horrified if we went all out to draft or trade a small forward.

Maybe trade in Dunkley if the price is right, maybe Grundy if he doesn't cost too much and Collingwood pick up a fair bit of his salary. But with a quality mid and key defender within our reach in the draft I would be reticent to give up our first draft pick and our Amon compensation pick for either of those players. With the draft we can fill gaps in our list and it is high time we took a punt on a KPD who is a first or second round pick.
