Na
I think KM is on the money with Pou and Sheezel and Tsatas is possibly the one there should be a really big watch on.

Sheezel getting pumped as at the very top end is a worry for what is being essentially a half forward at afl level is a worry. Loved him at 8-10 but at 2-3 I think you look at a genuine mid or KDF.

The closer you look at Pou the more you find to like really happy to land him.

Tsatas has explosive power that will transfer to AFL level. The Hawks take him or Pou or Humphrey and get a better outcome than whoever takes Sheezel.
Nahhhh… good Half Fiwards or Half Backs are as influential as good mids.

Rochelle, Rankine, Rozee…

Hodge, Daicos, other player…

So it seems there is some ‘turning off’ from this draft - Twomey mentioned clubs wanting to trade into next year.

Is that because clubs have seen more of next years crop so it’s more bankable or is it legitimately stronger or grass is greener?

From what I’ve read, it seems like there isn’t much depth in this draft. A solid 15, another good 10 then meh. The rookie me article on key position defenders named 3 over 192cm and the remaining were later picks.

Rumour is the Suns are askig the Crows for their first rounder for NEXT year.

Poo poop for Pou; they may have a pick before us this year !!!

Phillipou also mentioned that he thinks going interstate might help develop him further which is interesting.

I suspect the deal for Rankine would be Crows' future first + 5 for Rankine and 7. Gets Suns 2 spots up and a future first which, as Twomey mentioned, seem to something clubs want to do atm

I'm all aboard on the Humphrey train if Phillipou goes interstate.

Tells me the Hawks are putting time into Pou.

Currently my thinking is

Kangas - Tsatas
Eagles - Wardlaw (Although I think they'll split this pick)
GWS - Cadman
Essendon - Sheezel
Crows - McKenzie
Hawks - Humphrey/Phillipou (Humphrey probably suits them better given that he's more of a ready made player imo and can be thrown straight into midfield which is what they'd want)
Suns - Busslinger
Port - Phillipou/Humphrey/Clark

Something tells me Clark may slide. He's had an ultra consistent year and he's super reliable but some think he lacks x-factor but for me I think he'd suit Port really well too.

I'm not a fan of Busslinger, will be a good maybe great player but I am not sure his gamestyle fits us. He's a good intercept marker but he hasn't played on the best forwards in the NAB league and his kicking worries me a little bit.

So if those 3 mids (and McKenzie) aren't at our pick, I think we should split it with Swans if possible or trade back a few spots to bring in another 2nd round pick or something.

At the end of the day none of this will matter if Dunkley nominates is cause we'll bend over and give them pick 8

Dunkley may be a bridge to far. Not the Westgate, the Story bridge in Brissie. Me thinkith he is waiting for the Lions to finish up this season.

Clarke is another Geelong Falcon; the Cats note where those kids are drafted and chase em up in a few years, big, big, go home risk

Well the Cats would chase him up when he turns 30. Long time to go 😂

Nah I agree although I'd back in our program to keep him and if not, get a valuable pick back. Idm Konstanty or Drury either but Clarke would be my value pick out of the 3.

Hope Dunkley goes to Brissy tbh

Crows 1st this year and next more then likely
Can only dream the Suns wil play hard ball.

The Suns are looking at the 2023 draft, with highly rated academy player Jed Walter eligible for next year.
Walter is a strong-marking teenager who is being touted as a top 10 future draft pick in 2023 and kicked 9 goals in 4 games in the National under 19 championships for the Allies.

If I was a suns fan I would be disappointed if I didn't get this year's first and next year's first... I would even give a few of the spare 2nd round picks they have back.

The mismanagement of Conner Rozee and his foot injury and how it effected his game a reminder of how tough it is to get though a game not being 100%

Gold Coast want this years 1st more then next years as next years could get wasted on academy bids they’d rather a heap of later picks.
They already have a big list and could have to cut it so they do t need multiple picks so they are saying theyll
Swap there 3 2nd round picks for brisbanes 1st and have 3 1st round picks this year
I think they’ll be happy enough with Adelaide’s 1st this year and there 2nd round pick next year then I think we should give our 2 picks in the 50’s for 1 of them picks . Brisbane gets more points and we move up the draft

One to look out for in next year's draft is Chad Reschke, from Sturt.

Runner up in McCallum Medal, key forward type, from Mannum originally.

Played his first Reserves game in the final today v West Adelaide, and kicked 3 goals.

Lemmey and Scully both went around in the same game. Lemmey 2.2, Scully 1.1 respectively.

I still find it interesting that Lemmey and Scully have fallen off the radar despite playing league/reserves, whilst Cadman and Jefferson have risen on the backs of juniors games where there are no KPDs to defend them.

Lemmey in particular.

He's not the player he was last year I'd be happy to run the risk it was the shocking start he had to the year with covid and losing confidence and struggling to get it back.

His form has been ok the past month.

You pick him at 30 something and it comes off you would look like a genius.

Thay have a plethora of picks for this year: you can no longer match Academy picks under 40

Irish Times story has Conner McKenna wishing to return to Aus and play for either Port or Brissy next year

The top 40 rule doesn't apply to the northern academies, only the NGA.

Yep so any kid in the Lions, Suns, Swans or Giants academies and are top 40, will be protected. The 4 northern clubs have effectively scrapped NGA's. They say NGA type kids are just part of their academies.

GWS has a southern NGA area, where footy is strong near the Vic boarder, which they have lost access to top 40 NGA players, but the rest of their zone is for their academy.

Bids on metropolitan-based Indigenous players tied to West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Port Adelaide’s NGAs can’t be matched inside the top 40 selections, because its a numbers game and there aren't enough indigenous kids in Victoria, so to smooth the exercise, the WA and SA clubs only have access to country zoned indigenous kids.
