I really don’t understand the point of rookieing Williams now.

He’s shown he isn’t able to get up to AFL standard in however many years he’s been on the list. We have a number of small forwards now so don’t need him there or down back and I can’t see him making the side at any point next year. Why waste another year of development and a list spot that could be spent elsewhere only to then likely be delisted again.
We have two good small forwards, one of whom has played 13 games in the last three seasons and the other didn't get on the park once last year.

I'd rather play Dylan Williams over Jed McEntee or Francis Evans every day of the week.

Tom Scully, like Mattaes, "a massive Port man"...

I disagree. If after 4 years in the system (next year) he still can’t get his body up to the fitness level required then he just isn’t up for it. No point having him on the field if he can’t keep up the pace at AFL level for a full match.

No point just keeping him there because the others can’t get on the park either. Once his contract is up (which I didn’t realise he still had one), draft someone else with more likelyhood of paying off.

We don’t know what he is like in the locker room, has always competed hard for the Magpies and has AFL traits.

The grass isn’t always greener.

But....we only have 3 spots! Plus Williams rookies and Barkla category b.
Yeah just ran it through…

Next year could be a big year; Clurey, McKenzie, Jonas, Dumont, Fantasia, Williams, Hayes, Jackson, Lord, McIntee, Teakle…

Loved the idea of Philippou before JHF became gettable, which was the right move. I wasn’t certain that Mattaes would still be available at our pick # 9 & it looks like he could even go as high as selection # 5 now. It will be interesting to see how his career progresses from here.

Because Williams is contracted for next year, 2023 will be now or never for him.

Was just going to post he has been in the paper and on the news the last few days.
Keep quite big fella 😂

Does anyone think a club might go early on Lemmey anyway, on the strength of his 2021 form? Sounds like he was impacted by Covid this year, so I'd be backing him in to turn things around.
Worth the risk imo. Chances are who ever we get will be a long shot anyways.

This guy has been linked to us . Will Elliott (Oakleigh Chargers) Sounds like the sort of injured long shot we like. 201cm kpp / ruckman. Only played 2 games this yr due to injury.

Son of former Test cricketer Matthew who played a few seasons in SA in the mid to late 2000s.
