The wash up from the Vic Metro vs WA game.
Consensus on the draft board had Elijah Hewett BOG.

Watched the 2nd half.
Hewett kicked a long bomb goal from the boundary!
Balanced. Kicks either foot. Goes all day.
Lot to like!
WA dark haired ruckman (was that Broadbent?) look imperious when on the ball.
Busslinger looked all class.
Bevan not a lot of posessions, but ice cool disposal a few times. Lowers the eyes when going I50.

Lemmey seems to be dropping down draft boards if we keep our first and his there do we take him?
Personally I like Phillipou I think we need another A grade mid but his soaring up draft boards.
I know we need a KPD badly hopefully with Amons compo.

Hoping the Crows pick him up.

I don't want to go over him but I'd still be a bit concerned he's not going on with it on what he's showing this year.
Maybe the covid thing that knocked him around?
Maybe something else we aren't aware of?

He looks quite likely to be available at our pick. I would be very tempted by any of lemmey Scully or keeler at our first but I think if there’s a genuine centre square mid available at our first that would be hard for us to overlook.

We’re pretty stocked at kf, tho you still keep adding them when possible, but boaks imminent departure plus our lack of clearance winning plus the abundance of high end genuine centre mids makes me think mid is the way to go.

I just think phillipou Clark hollands and hewett all look like genuine key pieces and one or 2 of them have to be available at our pick.
Does lemmey ruck?
Not that I’ve ever seen.

I reckon the crows will go for best available midfielder at their first and will look to see if a kf / ruck will be available later

Keeler Scully lemmey Jefferson Barnett cadman. One of them could possibly slip to their 2nd.

I think the crows are a real danger to select phillipou. Their midfield lacks class and impact massively. Hollands Tsatas and hewett also should be high on their board.

I'm pretty happy with our forward stocks atm with Marshall, Georgiades and Finlayson. Lord and Visentini/Teakle gives us enough depth so I'd be happy to pass on the 3 SA talls who will definitely be available at our pick.

There's probably a distinct top 8 (other than Ashcroft who can't be picked openly) that's emerging over the last month which can obviously change before November. Wardlaw, Sheezel (personal favourite!), Clark, Hewett, Tsatas, Busslinger, Phillipou and Szybkowski (not in order). I'd be happy with any of these because they are fill a genuine need on our list. From what I've observed, in terms of talent there is a drop off after these 8 but still some gems that can be picked up using our pick for Amon (if he leaves).

Above is assuming we won't make finals which is the most likely scenario. This is a draft full of quality mids

You get so few chances of picking up quality talls that it feels criminal to let them go, regardless of the make up of the list. Lord and Visentini are still more likely to be busts than successes. And with them being SA boys there's no flight risk, unlike a guy like Georgiades (which is probably another good reason to take a tall).

If Amon goes and we end up with an extra pick, probably end of first round or second round, then that seems like a good place to potentially take one of those guys depending on how those players perform over the remainder of the year.

This is the once place where its worth taking some wisdom out of the Crows recruiting strategy, particularly Rendell's era - you can never have enough quality tall players.

Is a hard one. If Lemmey is there then you almost have to take him. Though we do need another quality mid.

Yep... Midfielder would be good...

Need a kpd so busslinger would fit pretty good...

Lemmy? Dropping down the draft boards could be a bit of a steal if we can get him with a pick 20+
Dixon will be gone soon... He could be a Dixon replacement?
I’m generally against using top 10 picks on KPD. That’s what Adelaide do and it’s worked out horribly. If we had multiple first rounders then sure.

And if we can get lemmy with our Amon compo. Then **** yeah!

I agree it does feel a little wrong drafting a kpd so high when ya can get them later in the draft... But a big week ness in our team is a 195+ (better if 198+) kpd.

*It's been a problem for years not having the big/tall kpd.

Weitering, DGB, Zach Reid, Naughton, Ben King, Logue, Marchbank, Moore, McCartin, Talia. I agree that you can find them later, but if there is a quality tall player there, we should take them.

DGB, Reid are unproven

Naughton and king are forwards and should never step foot in a backline.

Logue, marchbank, McCartin are not even close to living up to their draft pick.

Weitering sure, but I’d rather the mids taken after him like Oliver.

Talia and Moore were successes.

Overall, I think you’ve helped me prove my point

Over the last 11-12 years or so there's been 13 first round or first round equivalent All Australian KPDs. Yes you can get good/great ones later on, but there's been a lot of excellent first round KPDs

I want us to recruit Jefferson so I can sing We built this city on rock and roll every time he touches the ball.
