Cadman/Tsatas/Sheezel the standouts?

I’m happy with the level of talent that will be around our first pick.

We would have to be extremely unlucky for none of Clark, phillipou busslinger or hewett to be there.

I know there’s a lot of interest here in going for Hayes with the Amon compo, and that’s a reasonable idea, but man there’s going to be some high end key forwards available around that pick.

Obviously not all, but some out of the lemmey, keeler, Scully, Jefferson cadman or Barnett camp just has to be available there. That’s too good a chance to pass up for me.

One of

- Clark / phillipou

Then one of

- Keeler / lemmey / Jefferson /

With our first two picks

Then go after a key defender and small / medium forward with our later picks

Then rookie another key defender like Brodie lake / bennier and another small / medium forward.
I have a slightly different view on our first pick. I think Phillipou is my first choice too but if he is not there I'd like to take Humphrey. Feel like both would provide something different to our midfield (noting that both are very different in terms of style of play). If neither of them are available at our pick (which is a remote possibility), I'm also thinking we could trade back a few spots (and bring in a second round pick or something) to take Brayden George. It'd solve our small/medium forward issues and Brayden can pinch hit in midfield.

From the footage I've seen Hayes looks like he'd need a couple of years to build the frame to be a KPD, he's not quick and his skills are pretty ordinary. Unless others have seen vision that contradicts that, I'm not keen on him to be taken that early. Added to that his brother will likely want out soon or very soon, so the brother thing won't be conducive to him being happy to stay here.

Mateus Phillipou reminds me of Bontempelli, I just can’t see him falling to us, realistically more likely a Top 5 pick. I’m surprised the Crows don’t select him with their 1st Round selection instead of selling the farm for Rankine. They desperately need an elite mid, & this kids trajectory looks like heading in that direction.

There's a huge chance he falls to us. We have pick 9 after the Ashcroft bid.

Ashcroft, Sheezel, Tsatas and Wardlaw will be the first 4. Then you have McKenzie, Cadman, Clark, Busslinger, Phillipou and Humphrey joining that next tier. Many currently rate Phillipou as a 8-12 range. The top 5 doesn't have Phillipou in it and unlikely to do so imo

James Van Es is someone I prefer more than Lewis Hayes because of his size.

Gcs would be a massive threat to take phillipou I reckon. They’re going to have picks 5 and 7.
They desperately need kpps, goal scoring power and elite running mids imo.. Sheezel, busslinger, tsatas all fit the bill. But phillipou is perfect for them as a guy who can play forward and kick goals then switch into the centre and give them some X factor.
A perfect draft for gcs would be something like
Whichever of sheezel, busslinger, tsatas is available at 5, phillipou at 7, then whichever of the kfs makes it to pick 25 ie lemmey, keeler, Jefferson then target key defenders and one of the rucks with the rest of their picks.
So everyone has said we need a small forward, midfield depth and a tall KPD.

Small forward - does close fit the bill? Sexton also mentioned. Still think Breust would be a solid get. Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill an option? Cottrell?

Mids - Dunkley, JHF, Ely Smith, have all got a mention.

KPDs - Mackay isn’t realistic. Melican from Sydney? Miller from Richmond?
Midfield depth? I wouldn’t say midfield depth. Spp can’t even make it into our midfield right now. We’ve barely managed to fit both rozee and butters into the onball rotation at the same time this season.

We don’t need midfield depth , we need a young star mid on the list to come through. A mid we draft this year will still only be 22 by the time wines is 30.

Eh. For me hayes >>> van es, and I really like van es. I think Hayes has elite potential, he moves way better than van es. In saying that Hayes will take longer to be ready imo.

Having said that while I rate Hayes higher, I would rather pick up van es with a pick in the 40-60 range than Hayes with pick 20.

Coby Burgiel.
183 CM.
76 KG.
Going to be a good get at some point mid draft. Playing a lot of school football for Wesley College and may be travelling under the radar. Reads a bit Robbie like though the midfield?

Hopefully once the crows trade pick 5 Phillipou can do a Bailey Smith wouldn't take much to scare G.C off.

So would posters here think Phillipou is our best get with our 1st pick?

If unavailable, then Humphrey, both bringing a unique skillset?

Otherwise one of either McKenzie, Hollands or Hewitt - all good, solid, accumulating mids.

For our Karlos comp pick, take the best remaining from Lemmey, Keeler, Barnett. I'm assuming that Cadman, Hayes, Jefferson, Busslinger have gone by then!

If we trade someone else out and bundle that with a later pick to get something in the early 30's, what about Jaiden Magor as a goalkicking, powerful small forward?

Humphreys disposal is a concern for me I would get Hewitt if Phillipou is gone.
I would only take Busslinger if we get Dunkley.
So I think there is enough in the top ten not to worry about trading up.

Cadman has been burning down the track over a couple of months now. Could be top 5.

I am not sure they would prefer Phillipou over Humphrey. Humphrey suits their midfield mix more imo with his breakaway speed and impact up forward. Phillipou probably plays a similar role positionally in their side like Ben Ainsworth or Elijah Hollands albeit Phillipou is taller and perhaps a better kick.

I also wouldn't discount GCS taking Oliver Hollands to join his brother, both are elite talents and that would set up their future too to have both of them there. My thinking is that they take Busslinger at 6 (after Ashcroft bid) and take Oliver Hollands. I suspect that they'd be willing to slide back a couple spots (and bring in another pick from elsewhere) to take Oliver potentially.

Could be wishful thinking. Saying that, I would be happy with Humphrey at our first pick. He'd add a very different dimension to our midfield. Ultimately, I think its best that we take whoever gets through GCS pick out of Phillipou and Humphrey

Sheezel looks the goods for mine; natural footballer with high IQ. Not sure he gets to our pick though.

Happy to off load Amon compo for KPD or Dunkley.

Going to be an interesting trade and draft period, that's for sure!

Hopefully Cal Twomey puts out his phantom draft soon. From what I understand, he's quiet accurate with 1st round selections.
