Hypothetically, if this was the case, then I would love Darcy Jones at 33, Van Es at 50, and then maybe pick up Harry Boyd (potential KPD) or Ethan Phillips with a rookie pick.
I’ve seen Jones play he’s very slick not sure if he’s what we are looking for but from what I’ve seen he stands a good chance at AFL level.

Darcy Jones, Van Es and Ethan Phillips would be amazing but I doubt we do that/get that lucky.

The ones I'd be targetting with our picks are Jones, Barnett, Van Es, Charlie Clarke, Phillips, Hugh Davies, Lemmey

Imo KPD and Ruck should be our main priorities. But if Barnett isn't at our pick then go another small forward.

Van Es has the attributes to become a solid defender and is worth a punt at 33.

As much as people rag on our defenders, as actual practitioners of the art they are pretty good - they just aren’t tall enough. So you can bring in an athletic player and have him learn.

KPD is our biggest need but if Lemmey falls to us I’m taking him.
Bad year I know, but the fact he was a number 1 prospect only a year ago has to mean something.
To be fair I know * all about the draft though.
Agreed.

KPD's tend to be a bit of a crapshoot anyway, one we take at 60 is probably just as likely to make it as one we take at 33.

Hayes at 33 would be great and Williams at 60 ok too but none of the other key defender options excite me. Maybe Keeler could be developed there? I’ve not seen Ethan Phillips from the VFL.

Anthony Munkara would excite me as a small forward. When the highlights come out he’ll have everyone gushing. My number 1 want.

Tom Scully and Major the other local SA lads I like.

33 is too early to draft Lemmey. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if he is available at pick 84.

I suspect Brisbane will try and get more picks given they only have 2200ish points. They'll need around 3300 points to not take a deficit. If they do manage to get more picks then I suspect there maybe more than 6 picks for them to use up before our pick 60

Essendon will use 2 before 60 and Crows will need 2-3 picks for Max. So our pick 60 may become 50 and there's a good chance reading some draft expert boards that Van Es is available at 50. I'd be more confident of that if he didn't have as good a combine as he did.

Recruiters will have a better idea but if he's a chance at 50 then I'd take Barnett if he slides to us. I'm not totally convinced about our current ruck prospects. Lycett is nearing his end and Hayes is a good ruckman but doesn't have that presence around the ground as has been well documented. Barnett could be our answer in that position.

Our ruck stocks: Lycett - shit (always was)
Hayes - the one I hope makes it
Visintini - Looks a competitor
Teakle - Not great at actually rucking and is very slight.

That's 4 rucks without counting chop outs. Of the chop outs, I'm with FishingRick04 that Dixon should be played as pure ruck, at least in front of Lycett. Leaves the forward line for Marshall MG and Finlayson which I think is the best mix.

When we are so low on KPD's I'd go with at least 2 in this draft and hope 1 makes it and also hope either Pasinini comes back well from ACL or a free agent presents next year. I think it is way more of a need than another young ruck.

Dante will be more than competitive.
He's very much **** with me and I will break you. We've had him going forward from the ruck but wouldn't mind seeing him go back.

If Lycett has a similar year to this year, I hope the club is ruthless and doesn’t give a new contract. Give him Lobbe ruck coaching gig. That’s 650k off books.
Do we have 2 or 3 picks in this years draft because AFL site has us with 33, 60.

Depends on how many we upgrade from rookie and any more to delist.

We have as many as we need, same goes for everyone. If we had 10 spots, we could have 10 picks.

Played at both ends of the ground in his draft year with Sandy - reads the ball quite well down back.

Is there a mature KPD in the state leagues? I know we tried this with Skinner (and failed) but is there anyone else?
Yea, but the hard part is finding one who is;
  • Big enough to play KPD at AFL level, whilst
  • Being fast and mobile enough to play KPD at AFL level, whilst
  • Also being good enough to play at AFL level.

You will find plenty of guys who tick one of those, probably a few that tick two. Pretty hard finding someone who does all three.

Yep. 99% of the time, anybody who ticks all three is already in the AFL.

Our picks are 33 and 60. Bris & Ess have 8 picks total before our pick 60. The absolute best case with FS/Academy bidding we can expect is for 33 to become 35, and 60 to become 55:
  • Davey Jr bid comes early enough to chew up 22 & 54.
  • Ashcroft & Fletcher bids chew up all 6 of Bris's picks between 34 & 56.

There are probably other kids that will mess this all up, but that's the gist for the highly rated kids.
bids on the Brisbane pair will take Brissy into debt for 2023 (which might help us next year)
hopefully someone early bids on Saints academy player - Cam MacKenzie (which would force Saints to add pick 28 to pick 9 thus allowing our 33 to move up)
and hopefully someone bids on cow's father son Michalanney early to allow us to move ahead of the cows in their either pick 23 or 46

Cam Mackenzie is a top 10 pick, and St Kilda can't match inside 40.

Just going by PM Bangers mock:
  • Ashcroft @ 1
  • Davey @ 19
  • Fletcher @ 22
  • Michelaney @ 31

Pushes our 33 out to 36.

We will probably target a KPD with 33 but I also think we should develop Lord into that position.
Been in the system now for a couple of years and has the tools.

So with JHF, Rioli, Evans and Teakle, we will have two spots, but have to take three draftees right?

I beleive rookie elevations count as a draft pick.

Yep. Currently 35 main list, 4 rookies. 3 uncontacted players (2 rookies: Dumont, McEntee, 1 main list: Frederick).
Sorry if I am incorrect, but are we not allowed up to 44 players, with two being Category B? We must have a minimum of 37? We can have 34-36 main list and 4-6 rookies, maximum of 42? If I am correct, we have up to three spots available on the main list, if we wish.
