List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft

I like Eyers better and was hopeful Phillips would get to my last pick. He got close
Haven't seen anything much about Eyers in the lead up to the draft. I see he went undrafted last year and has switched to defence this year. Seems a good size. What's he like as a player?

Again, that’s nothing we don’t already know, in the context of how games were counted at the time.

Be handy if we had an ‘SANFL Tables’-style game by game log.
I guess that applies for SANFL Player Life Membership in 1986 for 200 League games as well. I never considered how they might define “League” differently to what we’d all assume.

From what I can piece together from his NFC Hall of Fame article, against Norwood’s total League (minor round + finals) games, this bit alone is a gigantic red flag:

So he played 3 games over 1980/81 due to serious injury and surgery, but managed to just about play every single game in the four seasons immediately afterward to go from ~100 to ~200 games by 1985?

Shenanigans!

I'd be interested to know from keen observers how Lemmey went from top 10 calculations at the start of the year to now likely out of the top 30. Are there obvious flaws in his game that weren't there last year? Has his progress stalled due to sickness/injuries? At pick 33 or whatever that pick becomes, does he have the highest upside based on what we saw last year?

Hearing whispers multiple clubs called this out and the AFL shrugged its shoulders.

Eloite competition 😂

So where is Michalanney expected to go?
Would we nominate him at 33 to make Adelaide pay overs or is he an earlier pick than 33.

Its probably around the mark. That 25-40 area is where hes expected to go

Last night I looked up some old Football Times Yearbooks and the Hardball get website and my calculations have him playing at least 12 night games involving the ANFC's various night series games between 1976 and 1986 and at least 3 SANFL preseason cup games in 1984.

Between 1974 and 1981 he potentially could have played 1 or 2 games in SANFL cup series games, in 1975 the Datsun cup as after 6 games the top 8 sides had a knockout comp, so was 1/4, SF and GF and as the GF was between Sturt dft Glenelg, so Norwood would have only played 1 or 2 games.

Lets assume Michalanney didn't play any of these games in 1975 as Redlegs Museum said he had only played 4 games in 1974 and another 14 in 1975. The SANFL preseason cup where every teams played 5 games then the top 2 teams played in the GF started in 1982. Norwood never made a GF between 1982 and 1986.

From my old Football Times Yearbooks

1980 0 games according Redlegs Museum so not in Yearbook totals
1981 3 games played total 101 games ( Norwood played 22 games + 3 finals + others)
1982 25 games played total 126 games ( Norwood played 22 games + 3 finals + others)
1983 22 games played, total 148 games ( Norwood played 22 games + 3 finals + others)
1984 don't have a copy........................( Norwood played 22 games + 4 finals + others)
1985 25 games played total 202 games ( Norwood played 22 games +2 finals + others)
1986 9 games played total 211 games ( Norwood played 22 games +1 final + others)

That means in 1984 he played 29 games. Norwood that year played 22 minor round games, 4 finals games (won GF from 5th), 5 SANFL preseason cup games and 0 ANFC night series games as in 1984 only 1983's grand finalists were invited, Westies and Sturt.

See my post #41
of the general Footy History thread re these preseason and night series games and who was invited to play.

Gary McIntosh in the 1985 Yearbook is credited with 31 games played and added to his total which was 108, and in 1983 his total was 47 so he must have played 30 games in 1984 - the year I'm missing. The 31 games for McIntosh in 1985 would have been made up from 22 minor rd games + 2 finals + 5 SANFL pre season games + 2 ANFC night series games against Geelong and Essendon.

This will be put down as - this makes up for the Ebert error, but .........

From this screen you can click on the individual years and check. Thanks to Janus for linking the site in a previous post re the NFL games, but he forgot to look at AFC games between 1980 and 1986.

31 games of senior football in one calendar year, when you could freely take someone’s head off and fear a slap on the wrist at worst. Unreal.

Top work all-round, REH.

Lol, so of his "211" matches, 12 were guaranteed to be non-eligible to count toward F/S...meaning Adelaide should miss on Max by 1 game at the very least.

Poetic ****ing justice for the Borlase saga. Send the info to Rucci and get him to use his contacts at AFL House to **** them over.

The AFL knew mid year after multiple clubs sent in a submission. They've either adjusted their rules since Borlase or decided its in the too hard basket.

So, after all the kerfuffle surrounding Brett Ebert, Bryce Gibbs and Cale & Jarryd Morton, the AFL land on a position resulting in the son of a Port Adelaide stalwart going to the Crows because he’s ‘African’, and the son of a Norwood stalwart going to the Crows because “ehhhhhhh 🤷‍♀️”.

What a league <3

I won't quote from other boards, but if you go halfway through the Crows thread on NGA and F/S, they realised this last year and you'll see this exact summary (except a request to delete the post in case Rucci read it)

The father son rule hasn't changed. The AFL would have had to inform the clubs and they would have told the media by now.

I don't know if the NGA rules have changed to get rid of the ridiculous ruling that if a kid is born in a Culturally And Linguistically Diverse (CALD) country, but to Australian citizens not from a CALD background, but have been working overseas when their son is born, as still eligible as an NGA player.

can we get a talented local kid like the phillipou kid to withdraw from the draft and say he doesnt want to play anymore...then change his mind in march and play local league for the eagles then we pick him up in the mid year draft? that sounds like a legit plan to me.
A) No, you can't nominate for the midseason draft unless you've nominated for at least one national draft.

B) Even if you could, unless you're expecting Port to be bottom of the ladder at MSD time this year, why wouldn't somebody else draft him before he got to our pick anyway?
