Keeler Athletic; Best = Franklin, Worst = Ryder (a Special thing each match but never a 4 quarter dominance)

Lemmy IQ and Strength; Best = Carey, Worst = Lockwood.

If I could have one, with what we have n terms of the Athletes Marshall and Georgiadies, I take Lemmy. Not disappointed with either though.

Would love to see Lemmy after three weeks at Asipos or wherever the lads have been with Boaky, think he could unlock some mobility which would close the ‘gap’ athletically between the two.

Lemmy exposed form against Men.

Do we think that if Lemmey is there at 33 we will take him?

For those in the know, who’s a better prospect out of Lemmy and Keeler?
I’ve watched a bit of both and *shrugs shoulders

Keeler seems fairly safe. Like there’s definitely a footballer there of some description. I can’t see how even if he is as laconic behind the scenes as he appears that he still can’t at least still be a serviceable sam Reid style player.

But I still really like lemmey when he has space. That speed off the mark and those hands are good, I just didn’t get to see what he’s like when he isn’t given space this year.

Without seeing that maybe his best chance is getting drafted to a team like melb, where he will have space to run into.

Keelers nowhere near as athletic or as explosive as Franklin

For those in the know, who’s a better prospect out of Lemmy and Keeler?

At their best Lemmey. On what they've shown this year, Keeler. Its a real hard one.

I struggle to let go of Lemmey. I struggle to think that a player who legitimately came into this year as a #1 prospect could drift away into complete insignificance.

Keeler i've really liked since the first time I saw him play in 2020. If he puts it all together he could be something special. But it is an if.

Lemmey seems to sort of play like a 199cm Crows Tom Lynch. With maybe a hint of Westhoff agility when he is in space. Which is fine, that works ok for our side with what we currently have.

But at 199cm he really should be more aggressive at the ball in the air. If he could add that to his game he would have a really high ceiling.

There would also be some questions about his mindset. He seemed to sort of capitulate this year after a few setbacks. At AFL level there will be more setbacks and he will need to work through that.

But at the end of the day from where we are picking and what we currently have I like the pick. Big prize a low cost.

Development for key forwards is often pretty non-linear and there is every chance he gets back on track.

I can’t think of a better, realistic option for us at #33 than Lemmey. Given Hayes is gone (and even if he isn’t, I have some doubts about anyone who collapses on a 2k run and has a brother who after 5 years in the system hasn’t yet demonstrated the tank to play AFL), then all roads lead to Lemmey:

  • we have our midfield sorted for a decade already
  • plenty of upside- looked a world beater 12 months ago
  • we need height in defence but the draft is poor on true key backs after Busslinger and Hayes
  • we have had great success in recent times by looking past someone’s draft year- Rozee was no pick 5 based on his draft year, Georgiades didn’t play in his draft year, Sinn barely played in his draft year
  • has AFL traits and demonstrated in 2021 that he could play against the big boys

It’s a high risk high reward type selection but it is hard to see him as a complete fail.

I have watched the draft pretty carefully since 1995. I can’t quite remember a slide down the rankings like Lemmey’s in that time and, really, his season wasn’t all that bad. Even Sellar dropped only to end of first round and by all accounts, his physical testing showed he had the heart lung capacity of a goldfish with emphysema.

I don’t see that problem with Lemmey. I don’t know how he tested but he has demonstrated some speed off the mark. So unless his endurance is poor, he is my selection at #33.

Yeah that Hayes run while it didn’t look great it appears Hayes has run 2ks in fairly convincing style in the past and the run hasn’t put recruiters off. Apparently he’s not sliding.
We won’t get a look at him.

This time last year I thought we would have zero chance to get lemmey...

Now... Pick 33? Could get him 😯😯

I'm hoping hustwaite slides, doubtful but a man can dream, would be an excellent addition to our midfield mix

The thing against Lemmey, is that historically, talls that have gone from high pick potential to sliding this far generally dont make it.

Brander, Sellar, Butcher (ducks head), Ballenden. Even going back to guys like Billy Morrison, Fergus Watts. Theres others. Jeka might be another.

I cant really think of one who slid down the rankings but was still even a servicable player let alone a star.

Having said that, i’d still love to get him

What about defenders who slid

What about defenders who slid

Only potential high pick that springs to mind who slid is Lever, but that was because he did his ACL and didnt play a game in his draft year

Does Darling count?

Noah Balta is probably another one that slid but ended up being really good. Although generally speaking you would say that players that don't have a good top age year don't end up being good.
