Is Darcy Jones a small forward or a small midfielder? We need a small forward but the last thing we need is a small midfielder.

If he has some forward craft then would be OK if we picked him up at 33.

Just a mention of likely smalls.

Darcy Jones scored an agility test record at the draft combine clocking in at 7.702 seconds. That is phenomenal and a pretty good guide as to your chances of making it at the top level. It’s one of those tests good players do well.

We just dont need him though.

He was a standout at the carnival, good skills , pace of the mark , good delivery to forwards etc. If by some chance he was there at 33 you'd have to take him, needs or not.

Don’t need is probably not right depending on what is available at our pick. Lemmey I’d take a punt on for the sake of hitting the jackpot but it’s a punt. If he’s not available then a good footballer who nails a spot just by being a little better than one we already have and goes on to play 200 games is a pretty good get.

Jones/D’Aloia could be those type of players.

For way too many seasons now unless the Power midfield was dominating the Jonas lead defence was often exposed against the teams with gorilla forwards, so it's a given we need to add at least one ready to go 195 cm plus KPD to the list, or regardless of the quality of Horne Francis and Rioli 2023 could very well be just another wasted season.

The problem has been there since Daryl Wakelin retired, and unfortunately finding a ready to go 18 yo in the draft is highly unlikely as a draftee in that age group will almost certainly take at least a couple of seasons to develop.

As I posted before I have seen him play and he looks a certainty to play many AFL games.
I can’t see him lasting to our pick for me he’s in the top 20 easily.

Van Es is the only KPD with the body to go straight into AFL. All the rest will require 2-3 seasons.
I think he will be gone by pick 33.

One recruiter told foxfooty.com.au this year’s draft class has capped off what for clubs is a “perfect storm” of sorts.

Into the pot goes a marked shift towards players in the power dynamic with clubs, the isolation suffered during covid-19 and a top-end of the predicted draft order hailing from inner-city Victoria.

The end result is a draft in which the potential risks of an interstate recruit have to be considered more closely than they ever have been.

Port Adelaide has nominated Woodville-West Torrens player Nathan Barkla through the Next Generation Academy process ahead of this month’s national draft.
Barkla, a half-back/midfielder, trained with the Power at times last season, played three SANFL league games for the Magpies and also represented SA at the under-18 titles.

Looks a bit like Rozee, now all he has to do is play like him!

Averaged 20 disposals in the under 18s in a very average WWT side. Had a 29 and 28 disposal game.
