Note that if we picked Will and Lemmey we would have a serious cricket side. Lemmey is very good fast bowler.

Straight into our T20 side.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us draft Jaiden Magor.

I didn't realise we have two future third round picks. Wonder if we might try to use one to sneak up the draft order a bit to grab a slider.

If Sydney are shopping their picks about 33, 55 and future 3rd for their first? :p

LATEST DRAFT INTEL …

While Essendon remains open to offers for its prized early picks, industry sources aren’t anticipating any live draft night trade bombshells inside the top 10. But clubs are on alert for some action in the back-half of the first round.

Rival teams are aware of Sydney’s willingness to strike a trade with one or both of their first-round selections (Picks 14 and 17) as it has a desire to boost its 2023 draft hand. The consensus is Carlton, which has been transparent about its desire to split its first selection (Pick 10), would be the club most likely to strike a deal with the Swans, who’d probably get a future selection back as part of any swap. If the Blues trade down to get two picks, they’d likely target at least one key defender — Lewis Hayes or Josh Weddle — and a hybrid type — Jacob Konstanty has been linked to the club, as has Elijah Hewett.

Should the Swans play a role in the second and third round of the draft, they’ve been linked to South Adelaide forward-midfielder Jaiden Magor and dashing Oakleigh Chargers defender Bailey Macdonald.

Magor has a very fluid kicking style. He had an interrupted year and he would be rated higher if not for that. I'd like him but its hard to decide between him and some of the talls who are expected at our first pick. Good luck to Parker etc.

I thought if you lose your future 1st rounder you can't trade any other future picks - maybe you can if you have more than one future pick in a specific round? We may have two 3rds next year.

Would be open to 33 plus future 3rd to get into the 25 to 28 range this year.

We couldn't trade our future third round pick, but we also have Freo's which we can trade. At least that's how I understand the rule.

Yeah just ran it through…

Next year could be a big year; Clurey, McKenzie, Jonas, Dumont, Fantasia, Williams, Hayes, Jackson, Lord, McIntee, Teakle…

This guy has been linked to us . Will Elliott (Oakleigh Chargers) Sounds like the sort of injured long shot we like. 201cm kpp / ruckman. Only played 2 games this yr due to injury.
Elloitt was named the Charger's captain in preseason but only managed two NAB League appearances before being sidelined by a knee injury related to his growth. At 202cm and counting, the 18-year-old is already taller than his test cricket playing father, Matthew.

Elijah Hewett isn't in the fox phantom top 21!? Weird draft is weird.
Yeah the Hewett slide is really weird. There's a clear top 10 in this draft but I'd probably have Hewett at 11th.

We traded our future 3rd as part of the JHF trade I'm pretty sure .

Ah ok, you're correct. I was going by the Draft Central preview that had us with two future third round picks.

No movement from us then. It's the waiting game.

Whats the go with Brisbane if Ashcroft goes pick 1 and Fletcher pick 11. with 20% discount they would need around 3400 point. 2400 for ashcroft and around 1000 for fletcher. they currently only have 2238 points so i cant see how they could match Fletcher at 11. They cant future trade there 2nd rounder and then have 3 future 3rds atm which arent worth a lot.
would they by going in deficit just keep losing picks next year till they have none left? so lose pick say pick 39, 55,56,57 to cover the points?

I had the same thought, is there a maximum they can do? As I am pretty sure they traded their future first.

But if they are able to bring in Fletcher, Ashcroft, Dunkley and Gunston for the cost of McStay and 2-years worth of decent picks, you would be a pretty happy Brisbane supporter.

Don’t they go into deficit next year and their first slips back to make the difference?
