List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft

The McCallum pick in isolation felt a bit weak. With all the pieces in place now it looks better however. Looks to have some real upside and tools.

One concern I have is fitting in all these talls and giving them reasonable opportunity to develop. Other concern is not having an msd pick as it stands.
We won’t develop them under Ken’s system. Simple as that.

Weve had **** all talls in the sanfl for years. We finally have a proper tall system there now. Im stoked

AFL:
KPF - Dixon, Marshall, Georgiades
KPD - Allir, Clurey, Mckenzie
Ruck - Lycett
R/F - Finlayson

SANFL:
KPF - Lord, Scully, Teakle
KPD - Pasini, McCallum, Marshall
Ruck - Hayes
R/F - Visentini

Finally have a similar structure at both levels. When you consider that Lycett & Mckenzie would have 1 year left, Dixon two at the most, then we had to go tall and had to bring in backup to get ready for them leaving, which is what we've done.

Two 200+cm stringbean kids.
Give them 3 years of weights and steak dinners, and 15kg of muscle and 50 SANFL games experience, and watch them then 😉🙂

The other Bloke possibly gets a few games next season. And could grow another 1-2cm making him 195tall, quick enough to play on mid sized forwards or as a KPP.

Happy with the drafting.

I imagine there's a bit of waiting to see if any pick swap offers come through, and there would be extras in the room as observers, social media people, etc. on top of the 5 or so recruiting staff who finally get their moment in the spotlight. I'd assume there would be more discussion while other clubs are picking players, especially if the players they want start disappearing off the board.

Probably right, I find the pick swap thing annoying as I think it compromises the Draft.

You should always have a tall system cycle, it doesn't matter how many you churn through trying to find keepers.

Yes good point, there are plenty of teams with as many as 4 x 200cm plus players on their list. Geelong have nine players 198cm and over on their list while Brisbane have eight players over 200cm. After last night's selections we have eight players over 198cm. Height wise I think we are catching up with the competition pacesetters.

Now the draft is over.

That makes rucci 0 from what now with his intel? Dude is getting paid to straight up lie to members

Didn't he have us taking the guy that didn't get drafted by anyone?

Do we have any list spots for rookies

On TET-AN00 using BigFooty.com mobile app

Not sure if I have this right but we have indicated that we will be taking Dylan Williams as a rookie which gives us 5 rookies. Last year we went with 6 so I assume it will be Dylan Williams and one other. We can also have up to 2 Cat B rookies but we may not take any.

As I see it our Senior List is currently 37 players, the same size as last year. We can go to 38 if we choose to.

After Covid the AFL tweaked the list sizes and rules for 2022 and I have not seen any changes.

Maximum list size (senior + rookie) is capped at 42, so when we rookie Wiliams we hit our limit (37+5).

2 Cat B rookies can be listed outside the main list. We will list Barkla as a Cat B.

I agree with you 100% Macca, about bloody time, but there is a big difference in quality re when they were taken in the draft to be confident they are the long run replacements. But they can all do a job over the shorter run.

But we have to continue this type of recruiting in the future, so that there are equal positional players in the Magpies side who when needed can play a similar position for Power rather than pulling something out of the differential to fix the carburettor mentality, at both levels.

KPF - Dixon Zone GC, traded in after 60 odd games, Marshall #16, Georgiades #18
KPF - Lord #49,.................................................... Scully #53, Teakle 21 year old mid season draft

KPD - Aliir #46 Syd, traded in with 60 odd games, Clurey #29, Mckenzie 17 year old GC, traded in with 100+ games
KPD - Pasini rookie,........................................ McCallum #36, Marshall #59

Ruck - Lycett #26 WCE, traded in after 75 games
Ruck - Hayes #47

R/F - Finlayson Academy player GWS, traded in after 60 odd games
R/F - Visentini #56

I see, last year we started with 37+5 and we added Teakle in the Mid Season Draft so I assume we declared a long term injury or something similar.

Looks like today is pretty predictable.

How does we make ours 105kg ripped and can run all day like Geelong?

And we were close to those lucky wins making us fall down the ladder further.

Swings and roundabouts, our list will be lucky to live up to the lofty 11th
I reckon with a better run with injuries and a better draw than last year I can see us easily making the 8. We have also improved our list since last season. You don’t have to be that good to make the 8.
My opinion is not persuaded by my feelings about Ken unlike a lot of posters on this forum.
