While you're here, take a few minutes out of your Draft Day(s) to cast a vote on the 2022 Game Previews poll.

So, what does “best available” look like in everyone’s eyes?

I’m thinking our biggest hole is creative/attacking flair up front. We desperately need more goals, but outside of another Ballas remarkably being there at 33, can a first year small forward help us, let alone break into the first 22?

Besides Barnett being there at 33, which he won’t, I’m not that excited by our options.
You ask about best available but seem to be discussing needs.

Personally I think this part of the draft typically leans towards needs, and Walls has indicated we will do that.

My point of view is gleaned from bigfooty and the media so lacks relevance, but if Keeler or Magor get called I'm ok with that. After that some locals and the nga's look decent.

I’m not sure they’re mutually exclusive.

I want a forward who can kick goals off one step climbing out their own bum from a tight angle.

Yes, I want a forward who can kick goals off one step climbing out their own bum from a tight angle. Like a Sabreena Duffy.

One step, snap, goal. On the lead and on the ground

there is one such player, and even has a booming kick, but attitude and maturity may be a problem. Think Franklyn

There seems to be much less noise about GWS being in a prime spot holding the first pick tonight than there was last year. Is it a) just me thinking that; or b) because we don't have the pick and I'm not paying attention; or c) because there is no one as good as Johnson left on the table this year?

I think it's the last point. There's a reason Sydney we're trying to bail out of the draft

Think it's a bit of both, seems consistent no one likes the draft outside the top 14 or so, the first pick of the 2nd round isnt as valuable this year it seems

We’d also made regular reference during the trade period last year about wanting to hold onto the pick specifically so we’d be in a position to elicit offers.

Honestly I watched a bit of the WA boys last year and I thought it was a joke Johnson lasted to pick 21 tbh. My preference before the draft was actually Amiss and Johnson with our first two picks. I had Erasmus just behind Johnson mainly due to their kicking skills.

I honestly think we would’ve considered trading pick 21 if Johnson wasn’t available. You’ve got to do what is best for the club and selecting Johnson was exactly that.

The heck sort of a rig is Riley Beveridge rocking on his melon? Real Don Mattingly areas.

Agree with all of that, I was the same but was always happy with whatever Wallsy decided. If it were me though I would've gone Amiss then JVR with our first 2, especially if I'd known Johnson was still going to be there at 21. Much easier after the fact though and still completely stoked we ended up with the 3 we did.

What a crap draft
Yeah, it feels that way but given I dont really know anything about the draft I have to just assume I'm just projecting because we have no draft picks and the peeps that know what they are talking about dont like it much either
